Ivan I cannot speak to whether WMI will win the lawsuits, that is something to ask an attorney. I cannot try to persuade people one way or the other, given my position with the Equity Committee. I can tell you that WMI attys expect "a substantial recovery" for WMI as they stated that in court on Aug 24th. I can also tell you that JPMorgan is being investigated for possibly causing this whole thing to happen. WMI is suing the FDIC and JPMorgan for substantial amounts of money. There are a lot of issues regarding this case, it is very complex, and you really need to read the court documents to draw your own conclusions...also if you know a US Bankrupcty atty, they might be able to give you their opinion, but this is a big case, and it won't be cheap to get an atty to review it. This is something that to really understand, you need to be acquainted with US law, and Bankruptcy law. and have stayed on top of this since the beginning in October. I know of a bankruptcy atty who gave me a lot of insight to this and US law regarding this case. I can tell you that I know of someone who consulted a bankruptcy attorney for an opinion regarding this case, and the attorney subsequently bought stock in Washington Mutual after they read the filings in the case. I have kept my stock and even bought more, as have many other I know. But this is a high risk stock, it is always possible to lose your money, whether it is likely is something you have to decide for yourself. Their are people who are not so confident and have sold their stock. Only YOU can decide what to do, I advise you to do a lot of research and consult an atty familiar with US Bankruptcy law. And also be aware that in such a complex situation it is always possible you could lose your money. The attorneys for Washington Mutual seem very confident they will do very well. No one can advise you of whether to keep your stock or sell it, that is something you are going to have to research. You will have to research what has been going on with the court case and come to your own conclusions. If you are not familiar with US law, that is probably going to be difficult. I wish I could help you more, but I really cannot give you an opinion about this as I am not an attorney. One website that might help you get some of the information about what is going on with the court case is www.wamucoup.com. Check the NEWS section for a lot of information, including financial statements, opinions and some of the government documents. Make sure to set the default for ALL (you have to be in a thread to do that) On our website read the link for WAMUSTORY. The link to the court documents is under WAMU Resources, KCCLLC-WAMU filings. Also read the other pages on our website. Another website to look at is www.wamuqd.com/ Another place to get information is I would especially recommend reading postings of Bopfan, a bankruptcy attorney and also do a search for "fraudulent conveyance" . There are a lot of people there who are trying to make the stock go down (we call them bashers, so be aware of that....you will be able to figure out who is giving good information, with links to the court, and news stories etc. Links about bashers So don't let those folks confuse you, looks for FACTS, links to news stories, links to court documents etc. I wish I could be of more help, but I am not permitted to advise you on this matter. You will have to read up on this and draw your own conclusions. If you read about the issues and the court filings and have specific questions --I can try to help explain what I understand of them, but remember, I am NOT an attorney, so I will always advise you to seek the opinion of an attorney. |
