Die Ursache liegt m.E. darin, dass Rakuten massiv investiert hat - und dass dies auch massiv den momentanen Gewinn negativ beeinflusst, während dadurch die zukünftigen Gewinne noch größer ausfallen dürften als sie in der Spitze mit ca. 1,5 Milliarden US-Dollar schon einmal waren.
Und dann kommt in den letzten ca. 12 bis 18 Monaten noch hinzu, dass man die hohen Investitionen für den Mobile-Bereich von einem ursprünglichen Zeitrahmen von ca. 7 Jahren auf 2 bis 3 Jahre zusammengeballt hat, um seinen zeitlichen Vorteil bei einem weltweiten Offerieren von Open RAN-Angeboten nicht zu verspielen, was sich noch einmal negativ auf den momentanen Gewinn auswirkt.
All das müssten Anleger antizipieren können. So etwas gelingt bestimmten institutionellen Anlegern, privaten Anleger aber kaum, wenn kein publizistischer Hype derartige Investitionen begleitet. Und das ist bei Rakuten nicht der Fall, sondern genau das Gegenteil: Rakuten hat eine extrem schlechte Presse, was nicht verwundert, denn die sicher anzeigenträchtigeren etablierten drei größeren Carrier haben ein Interesse daran, dass die Erfolge von Rakuten klein geredet werden.
Nun kann man aber fragen, warum nicht institutionelle Anleger das ausgleichen? Hier haben wir das Problem, dass Rakuten Versicherer und Banken angreift, die wiederum hinter den institutionellen japanischen Anlegern stehen und ihre Konkurrenz nicht über den Kapitalmarkt fördern wollen. Und japanische Banken fürchten zudem, dass die drei großen Carrier sie meiden, wenn sie bei Rakuten kapitalmäßig einsteigen.
Somit verbleiben große internationale Investoren/Institutionelle, die aber nur dann kaufen, wenn sie keine strategischen, sondern nur ertragsmäßige Interesse haben - denn an den hohen Beteiligungsquoten der Mikitani's kommt keiner vorbei.
Und zum Abschluss noch ein weiterer Aspekt: Die Großaktionäre haben nur langfristig ein Interesse an steigenden Kursen, von Ratingeinflüssen bei der Fremdkapitalbeschaffung einmal abgesehen, solange sie keine Ausgabe neuer Aktien über eine Kapitalerhöhung planen - und die ist m.E. nicht in Sicht, da man sogar die hohen Investitionen für den Mobile-Aufbau aus dem Cash Flow und mit Hilfe von Fremdfinanzierung stemmen konnte.
Fazit: Die Aktie ist nur für geduldige Anleger geeignet, denn wenn und ob das Antizipieren einsetzt, ist schwer zu sagen. Spätestens aber, wenn der Cash Flow wieder höher ist als geplante Neuinvestitionen, würde man, wenn Kursanstiege nicht eingesetzt haben, eigene Aktien zurückkaufen, da das dann die beste Investition wäre.
