The Photovoltaic silicon wafers maker also noted that high customer inventory levels have led to a number of additional requests for order deferrals, expected to reach 30 - 35MW by the end of H1. Total shipments for the period are expected to be in the range of 90MW to 95MW, while in the prior year it was 110MW.
The company, however, said the declines in shipment volumes have been partially offset by the strength of the Japanese Yen and its positive impact on average wafer prices.
Commenting on the economic declines, PV Crystalox Solar said its major projects have been hit by the tightening in the credit market, eventhough signs of life are visible in the level of PV installations.
PV Crystalox Solar said, "This market weakness has led to oversupply and downward pricing pressure in all parts of the value chain and currently spot wafer prices are below our contract levels."
PV Crystalox Solar, however, noted that the commissioning of its polysilicon production facility in Bitterfeld is currently in its final stages of development, with initial production expected to start later this month with a projected output of 450 metric tonnes in 2009 |
