Top Tips for Managing Local Ad Campaigns
4/25/2013 - BizReport

The online local ad spend is expected to skyrocket over the next few years as more consumers move to mobile, which offers additional targeting options for advertisers. How can brands stay abreast of new ways to target and advertise without breaking the bank?

by Kristina Knight

Kristina: What are some recommendations you can provide for publishers in terms of additional options for revenue and managing cost?

Lori Chavez, Vice President of Marketing, Local Corporation: Online publishers are constantly seeking ways to manage cost, efficiency and performance of their digital sales and operations. Ideally, they should embrace a strategy focused on both driving top-level revenue and adding new tools to grow ROI. Fusion by Local helps regional media publishers optimize their online properties to drive additional incremental advertising revenue. With millions of searches conducted online every day, publishers should tap into these searches by implementing local business and local shopping directories as additional revenue streams.

Kristina: How do solutions like business directories or syndicated multimedia content fit into the mix, for publishers?

Lori: Local business and shopping directories help publishers to be found in more local searches by consumers. Local Corp.'s local business directory is integrated under the publisher's domain. Implementing the solution is virtually seamless as the directory requires no investment and can be deployed in less than a week.

Kristina: What's ahead this year for Local Corporation?

Lori: We saw record mobile, organic and total search traffic for the first quarter 2013. For the rest of the year, we will be focused on growing revenue and driving our overall performance. We're looking forward to continued success following the launch of Fusion by Local and look forward to helping our advertising partners and publishers better engage with local consumers

Trulia: Revenue for the first quarter 2013 was $24 million and Adjusted EBITDA was positive $1.2 million.

Local Corporation Reports Preliminary First Quarter 2013 Results: Company reports positive cash flow from operations one quarter earlier than forecasted. Local Corp vergessen, das meist um den Faktor (!!!!!!!!!!!!) 10 bis 50 niedriger bewertet ist als die dort angeführten Unternehmen:

But the writer of this article forget Local Corp, with is extreme undervalued by a compare with the following companies.

For investors, there are roughly a dozen or so public companies that operate in this space, and have significant exposure to take advantage of this major market shift. These companies include:

Mobile Marketing and Advertising Pure-Plays

Augme Technologies, Inc. (AUGT.OB)
Millennial Media, Inc. (MM)
Velti, plc (VELT)

Other Significant Companies

AOL, Inc. (AOL)
Apple, Inc. (AAPL)
Facebook, Inc. (FB)
Google, Inc. (GOOG)
Marin Software, Inc. (MRIN)
Pandora Media, Inc. (P)
ValueClick, Inc. (VCLK)
Yahoo!, Inc. (YHOO)

As many of us are aware, not all investment options are created equal. For 2013, Velti, Millennial Media and Augme Technologies have significantly underperformed market indices with current losses of 57%, 50% and 43% respectively. Facebook is flat, Marin Software trades near its initial public offering, or IPO, low, and Apple is down 36%. Google, Pandora Media, ValueClick, Yahoo, and AOL are all trading near 52-week highs.

In order to gain some perspective on the near-term potential for this market and the primary companies operating within it, data provided by eMarketer and Gartner will be assessed along with analysis of company market share, revenues and fundamental metrics.

The results of Yelp are extreme bad for an idiotic market-cap of 2 billion
Net revenue of Yelp was $46.1 million in the first quarter of 2013. Net loss of Yelp in the first quarter of 2013 was $4.8 million, or $0.08 per share, compared to a net loss of $9.8 million, or $0.31 per share, in the first quarter of 2012. Adjusted EBITDA for the first quarter of 2013 was $3.2 million. Less

64427 Postings, 7529 Tage LibudaBillion dollars to acquire intellectual property

While the titans of technology aren't as in favor as they once were, there is no dispute the financial clout of this group of companies.

Consider the cash that the following group has on its respective balance sheets:

Apple (AAPL): $130 Billion

Google (GOOG): $48 Billion

Microsoft : $74 Billion

I'll be honest, I'm not sure I want to invest directly in these companies. They are all very large and that makes growing very difficult. I'm not sure there will ever be much multiple expansion or growth to move stock prices higher at a decent clip.

What I am interested in is getting into the area where a good chunk of that cash that these companies have is likely to be deployed. These big boys are apt to pay up for growth opportunities and I would like to be on the other side of those transactions.

Continually coming up with new ideas internally has to be extremely difficult. But if these big companies are going to grow, coming up with new ideas is what they are going to have to do.

New ideas however, do not have to be internally generated. That is why a good chunk of those billions of dollars in cash are likely to be used to acquire intellectual property (IP) rights currently owned by smaller companies.

From last 10K: "Our Network, which reaches over 12 million MUVs, is our second largest source of revenue and is our largest gross margin business by percentage and in real dollars. Our product is a nationwide database of local business and product listings along with ad feeds which monetize those listings. We provide our product in the form of a hosted solution or via an XML feed solution. Our hosted solution is designed to generate search engine optimization (“SEO”) traffic to our partners’ sites and this helps those partners to increase their reach to new online users. As with Local.the flagshipsite, we monetize those users with ads placed alongside our content and we share revenue generated from those ads with our partners. Our XML feed solution is provided to sites that prefer to maintain their own look-and-feel and we share revenues in a similar fashion. Our Network consists of over 1,200 partner websites, such as local newspaper, television and radio station websites and we have twelve month auto-renewing contracts with the majority of our partners. Our Network enables us to reach a larger audience than we can reach on our flagship-site alone."

Nutzerzahlen hin oder her. Die vielen Klicks müssen monetarisiert werden. Und deswegen hinkt auch der Vergleich z. B. mit Facebook und anderen.

Bin stattdessen jetzt mal in Millennial Media rein...Pure Mobile Ad Play...

Trotzdem finde ich auch local.com nach wie vor sehr spannend...aber die aktuelle Situation ist wenig kalkulierbar. Hier kann man auch noch bei 3$ einsteigen. Man muss ggf. die ersten 100% nicht mitnehmen...

Why is makes sence to turn to a premium online ad network like Local Corp

To these ends, agencies and advertisers can turn to a premium online ad network. Networks like these promise ad placement with trusted media sources in countless local markets, through an integrated process and one point of contact. A premium ad network offers scale, convenience and potential for engagement with local audiences across specific industry verticals.
