Fiscal 2013 Financial Guidance:

The company reiterates its previous financial guidance.

Revenue - The company expects 2013 revenue of between $93 million and $95 million, which at the mid-point, is an increase of 12 percent, over the fourth quarter 2012 exit run rate.

Adjusted EBITDA – Positive Adjusted EBITDA for 2013 is expected to be at least $5 million an increase from the ($553,000) negative Adjusted EBITDA in 2012.

From big media to community media

Jim Brady, Editor-in-Chief at Digital First Media presented a compelling view of how local media is transforming itself to be a true community oriented outlet that is impossible for larger news outlets to duplicate. In creating a new business model for hyper-local media, the shift to community is at the very heart of the transformation. Brady described "The Open Newsroom" initiative where ordinary people in the community members can participate in the newsroom without constraint. The heart of Digital First Media rests with the communities they serve.

Do's and don’ts of hyper-local mobile advertising

By Chantal Tode

February 1, 2013

Targeting smartphone users at a hyper-local level is one of the big promises of mobile advertising, but until recently, inventory levels were low. As more inventory becomes available, advertisers need to understand what works and what does not in hyper-local targeting.

From understanding the different types of location information that is available to knowing how narrow or broad to define a geofence, hyper local targeting comes with its own set of challenges. However, when done right, hyper local campaigns can drive strong results for marketers.

“Hyper local targeting is probably the biggest win in mobile,” said Howie Schwartz, CEO of Human Demand. “That is something that desktop can’t do – it can’t do location at that level.

64429 Postings, 7530 Tage LibudaNetwork: More than excellent

• Revenue – First quarter 2013 total revenue related to the Network business unit was $8.3 million, up 9 percent from the $7.6 million Network revenue recorded in the fourth quarter 2012, and up 98 percent from the $4.2 million Network revenue recorded in the first quarter 2012.

• Network Revenue ex-TAC – First quarter 2013 total Network revenue ex-TAC was $ 4.1 million, up 5 percent from the $3.9 million Network revenue ex-TAC recorded in the fourth quarter 2012, and up 67 percent from the $2.7 million Network revenue ex-TAC recorded in the first quarter 2012.

Network Revenue ex-TAC is defined as GAAP Network revenue less network traffic acquisition cost. An explanation of the company’s use of non-GAAP financial measures, including the limitations of such measures relative to GAAP measures, is included below, and reconciliation between GAAP and non-GAAP measures, where appropriate, is included in the financial tables attached to this release.

• Network Sites – The Network business unit ended the first quarter 2013 with over 1,200 regional media sites.

64429 Postings, 7530 Tage LibudaErgänzung zu #5066 aus Investopedia

Definition of 'Traffic Acquisition Cost - TAC: Payments made by Internet search companies to affiliates and online firms that direct consumer and business traffic to their websites. Traffic acquisition costs (TAC) are a critical cost of revenue for Internet search firms such as Google, Yahoo and Baidu.com. TAC for these firms is watched by investors and analysts to ascertain whether cost of traffic acquisition is rising or declining. Rising TAC has a detrimental effect on profitability.

Investopedia explains 'Traffic Acquisition Cost - TAC: Many Internet companies report revenues both on a gross basis, and on a net basis that excludes TAC. One key metric for these companies is TAC as a percentage of advertising and search revenue, with a rising percentage indicating cost pressures on profitability. Sometimes companies will mention payments excluding traffic acquisition costs using ex-TAC.

"We also fundamentally believe that our pattern portfolio is undervalued, so we think the value of our IP will be realized as we make progress and protecting our life under our patterns. We have a dozen patterns, three of which are in the emerging pay-per-call space, a multibillion ad revenue opportunity in mobile. We’re actively reviewing potential infringes of our pay-per-call intellectual property and expect to take action to preserve our IP raised in mobile later this year."

Can Yelp Live Up To Its 12X Sales Multiple? Never - Local Corp has only 0.4X Sales Multiple.

Can Yelp Live Up To Its 12X Sales Multiple?

May 6 2013, 17:29 by: Ives Research | about: YELP Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, but may initiate a short position in YELP over the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from Seeking Alpha). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article. (More...)

Allow me to preface this short thesis by saying that I actually like Yelp quite a bit. I believe it is a useful service in many ways. My wife and I use Yelp to find a new restaurant almost weekly and it usually steers us somewhere enjoyable. In spite of my admiration for some of Yelp's services, it is impossible to justify its 1.95B market cap and 12x sales multiple. Yelp is operating on a flawed business model that will never achieve the growth anticipated by Wall Street.

64429 Postings, 7530 Tage Libuda40 Millionen Marktkapitalisierung sind bei diesen

Fundamentals von Local Corp ein Joke - ohne Wenn und Aber:

And the market-cap is by the following fundamentals only idiotic low 40 million today:

First Quarter Results Highlights:
“We were pleased to see revenue growth coupled with margin expansion during the quarter. Our first quarter gross margin was 28 percent, up four points from the prior quarter. In addition, we improved our liquidity by returning to positive cash flow from operations, coupled with a $5 million convertible note offering that closed in April 2013,” added Ken Cragun, Local Corporation chief financial officer.

• Revenue – First quarter 2013 revenue of $21.8 million represents an increase of 4 percent over fourth quarter 2012 revenue of $20.9 million.

• Adjusted EBITDA – The company reported positive Adjusted EBITDA for the first quarter 2013 of $605,000, or $0.03 per diluted share, as compared to fourth quarter 2012 negative Adjusted EBITDA of ($924,000), or ($0.04) per diluted share.
