Sweden approaches the cashless society. Now Ny Teknik can tell that IBM, Visa, Ericsson and MIT want to help the Swedish Riksbank to develop a digital currency.
The proposals come from German and Italian finance companies. They come from giants like IBM, Visa, Ericsson and SEB. Consultancy companies like Accenture and Kairos Future have heard, like new fintech players like Trustly, Klarna, Fidesmo and Chromaway. Even the American University of Technology MIT has sent a contribution. Everyone wants to help the Riksbank to develop an e-crown.
"It's very funny that there seems to be such a broad interest in trying to find a practical technical solution," says Björn Segendorf at the Riksbank.

In September 2017, the Riksbank presented its first report in the e-krone project. In addition to drawing out some guidelines for how an e-crown could be designed, they asked for help with the Technology.
The agency proposes a mix of a register-based and value-based solution. A registry-based solution should consist of an account in a database. A value-based solution would mean that cash digital funds could be on a specific debit card or app. Then the user can have access to his e-kronor even if it has no connection.
If, and if so, how to use a block chain is nothing explicitly expressed in the report. Of the close to 40 proposals, many have taken from such a hybrid, but several also emphasize the importance of the block chain chain.
