scheinen sich noch besser entwickelt zu haben als die beiden vier Kernbeteiligungen von Actua, sodass Informationen wichtig wären, selbst wenn, was ich vermute, nur kleine Beteiligungen hält, z.B. zwischen 10% und 20%.

Actua’s carrying value of its holdings in cost method businesses was $18.1 million and $17.7 million as of September 30, 2015 and December 31, 2014 ,
respectively. Those amounts are reflected in the line item “Equity and cost method businesses” in Actua’s Consolidated Balance Sheets as of the relevant dates.
Actua owns approximately 9% of Anthem Ventures Fund, L.P. (formerly eColony, Inc.) and Anthem Ventures Annex Fund, L.P. (collectively, “Anthem”), which
invest in technology companies. Actua acquired its interest in Anthem in 2000 and currently has no carrying value in Anthem. Accordingly, the receipt of
distributions from Anthem by Actua would result in a gain at the time Actua receives those distributions.

During the nine months ended September 30, 2015 , Actua received a distribution from Anthem that resulted in proceeds of $1.0 million , and recorded a gain in
that amount that is reflected in the line item, “Other income (loss), net” in Actua’s Consolidated Statements of Operations for the nine months ended September 30,
2015 .

unter Management habem auf Acua mit einem Anteil von 9% würden dann 25 Millionen entfallen.

Das sagt aber meines Erachtens nur wenig über den Wert des Anteils aus, da dieser Betrag von 280 Millionen nach meiner Interpretation offensichtlich schon vor 15 Jahren im Jahr 2000 investiert wurde - das schließe ich aus der Aussage, dass keine "Transportpreise" für Anteile existieren würden, die sich oben in meinem Zitat aus 10-Q findet. Da können einerseits z.B. in 2000/1 erhebliche Werte "verbraten" worden sein und/oder andererseits erhebliche Werte in den Jahren danach bis heute entstanden sein, wenn man z.B. bedenkt, dass Anthem vor dem Verkauf von Android an Google an Android beteilft war.

Völlig wertlos ist aber der Anteil an Anthem sicher nicht, denn Actua führt in 10-Q an, dass man in den ersten neune Monaten von 2015 bisher eine Million an Ausschüttungen von Anthem erhalten habe.

Anthem Venture jeweils beteiligt ist, und die kennen wir nicht, und noch schwieriger ist es den Wert der Beteiligungen abzuschätzen.

Da kann man nur spekulieren, aber wie bereits oben angeführt, eine Ausschüttung für Actua in Höhe von einer Million für neun Monate von 2015 ist meines Erachtens kein Nonevent.

Google has reportedly snapped up the mobile start-up Android, based in Palo Alto, Calif.

Typical of Google's acquisition strategy, the search giant quietly bought the wireless start-up in July for an undisclosed sum, according to a report published Wednesday in BusinessWeek Online. Google acknowledged the transaction in the report.

Android operated quietly itself. Little is published on the company's Web site, or in the press. But it's the next generation operation of Andy Rubin, who previously founded mobile-device maker Danger. Android reportedly makes software, or operating systems, for wireless devices that are location-sensitive or personalized for the owner.

Google has offered search services for wireless devices since 2001. But the company has made concerted effort to improve and broaden those applications in the last year as competition for mobile consumers has heightened.

It's likely a ways off, but personalized search for the phone will be a killer app. That is, if people get over the privacy implications. Web surfers have yet to do that online

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Shares of online content creator Demand Media closed 33% higher Wednesday, following an IPO that valued Demand at more than $1 billion.

The offering included 8.9 million shares, with Demand selling 4.5 million shares at $17 per share. Existing shareholders sold another 4.4 million shares -- a last-minute boost over the 3 million shares they intended to sell. Demand Media also raised the offering price beyond the anticipated $14 to $16 range.


Demand said it expects to raise around $67 million from the sale, after deducting its expenses for the IPO. The company plans to use the proceeds for content investments, working capital and international expansion.

The company trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol DMD (DMD). Shares ended at $22.65 Wednesday, after touching a high of $25.

That gives Demand a valuation of $1.5 billion -- more than the New York Times Co (NYT)., though less than other media stalwarts like Gannett Co. (GCI, Fortune 500) and Washington Post Co (WPO, Fortune 500
