"10.12, 15:06 Chinese court rules in favor of Qualcomm against Apple EPA-EFE / SERGEI ILNITSKY Chinese court rules in favor of Qualcomm against Apple The Fuzhou Intermediate People’s Court in China has brought a preliminary order in favor of the American chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. in an intellectual property dispute it had with Apple Inc., effectively banning the import and sales of some models of iPhones in the largest market in the world.
The decision was brought on November 30 and announced on Monday by Qualcomm, with its General Counsel Donald Rosenberg stating: "Apple continues to benefit from our intellectual property while refusing to compensate us. These Court orders are further confirmation of the strength of Qualcomm's vast patent portfolio."
Apple, however, said it will pursue all legal options to overturn the decision, and added that all iPhone models remain available for customers in China. The ruling targets models from 6S through the iPhone X.
Qualcomm's shares rose over 3% in pre-market trade, while Apple's dipped over 2%, shortly after the order was announced." |
