The increased investment in green industries is crucial for fostering new job opportunities, establishing companies, and nurturing export industries in Norway. Håkon Haugli, CEO of Innovation Norway, emphasizes the importance of financing major industrial projects, such as hydrogen, offshore wind, circular economy, and semiconductor production. The proposed investment in the revised national budget aims to support innovative green industrial projects in their startup and growth phases. With over 80 consultation inputs received by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, there is a clear indication of the need for public funding, particularly for long-term technology initiatives and the development of value chains with high capital intensity. The scheme, to be administered by Innovation Norway, will offer better conditions than the current private market, including loans or guarantees with support elements, contingent upon significant private co-financing. This initiative is aligned with the government's objective of promoting sustainable value creation and emission reductions in Norway. Minister of Trade and Industry, Cecilie T. Myrseth underscores the importance of green industrial promotion in creating attractive workplaces, fostering welfare, and reducing vulnerabilities in crucial value chains. Innovation Norway, with its extensive experience in managing loan schemes and collaborating with various stakeholders, will leverage its expertise to implement the "green industrial development" loan scheme.
