After the Bell - Rambus adds to gains
NEW YORK, June 22 (Reuters) - Shares in Rambus Inc. gained in after-hours U.S. trading on Thursday after the semiconductor technology firm said it settled its patent lawsuits against Japanese electronic machinery maker Hitachi Ltd. <6501.T>.
Rambus shares traded as high as 144-1/64 on the Island electronic system. The stock closed up 4-1/2 at 97-1/8 on Nasdaq. Rambus was quoted at 137-3/4 on Island and traded at 140 on the Instinet system.
Under the settlement, Hitachi agreed to pay Rambus a licensing fee to use the technology, which deals with high-speed memory interfaces used in semiconductors. Further details were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, shares in fiber-optics firm SDL Inc. rose after hours. SDL was quoted at 269-1/4 on Island and 269-1/2 on Instinet, after closing down 25-13/16 to 267-3/8.
Intel Corp , the No. 1 computer chip maker, gained after hours to 135-1/2 on Island after closing at 134-1/16, down 4-15/16. It was quoted at 136 on Instinet.
Telecommunications firm Qualcomm Inc. eased to 67-7/8 on Instinet and 67-97/128 on Island against a close at 68-1/4.
