GPS Industries Expands To Europe Tuesday October 26, 9:45 am ET Opens UK Office Seasoned Executive to Lead Europe Expansion Following Purchase of European and Australasian Golf Patents
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 2004--GPS Industries Inc. (GPSI)(OTCBB:GPSN - News; Frankfurt WKN#:252179), a leading developer and provider of global positioning system (GPS) and Wi-Fi wireless business solutions for golf courses, golf residential communities and golf resorts, announces it has opened an office in Europe to meet the growing demand for its Wi-Fi enabled golf business solutions in the world's second largest golf market. GPSI also announces the promotion of Bradley Allen to vice president of operations, Europe. GPSI is already strategically positioned in Europe following the recent purchase of the exclusive Differential GPS (DGPS) golf patents in Great Britain, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands. These countries represent 5358 golf courses, 91% of total golf courses in Europe. The European golf market is second in size only to the United States, but is expected to grow at double the rate with 40% more courses by 2010. GPSI also owns the exclusive DGPS patents for Australia and Japan.
"Our exclusive DGPS golf patents significantly increase our value proposition in Europe and provide a substantial competitive advantage. We have already received buying responses from courses in the UK, France, Spain and Italy," states Bradley Allen, vice president of operations, Europe. "We are in the process of appointing a network of distributors throughout the EMEA, giving us local presence in the key golfing markets of this crucial region." Allen previously established GPSI's Australian presence, where his successes included signing Australia's number one public golf course. Allen will be based at GPSI's new office in the United Kingdom, providing good access to every part of the EMEA region.
"With our exclusive patents, we anticipate rapid adoption of our Inforemer(TM) solution. Moreover, there is no comparable product on the market suited to European golf courses where more golfers walk the course," comments Robert Silzer, Sr., president and CEO of GPSI. "Most GPS products are only suitable to North American courses where most golfers ride carts. We took a more international approach, and designed Inforemer to meet the needs of any golf course, anywhere." Inforemer is the only GPS golf product with mix-and-match capabilities between handheld and cart-mounted GPS units to accommodate any combination of golf carts and walkers, and is Unicode compliant for use in multiple languages.
GPSI's new office is located in East Sussex, United Kingdom at 2 Kestrel House, Marine Road, Eastbourne BN22 7AU. The telephone number is +44 1323 649690 and the fax number is +44 1323 649692. Bradley Allen can be emailed at bradallen@gpsindustries.com |
