ALLIANZ (XETRA:ALVG.DE - News) The German insurer is due to report 2003 figures. Sources told Reuters on Tuesday the group made a 2003 net profit of around 1.6 billion euros as a multi-billion euro gain from asset sales saved it form a second straight year in the red.
ALTANA (XETRA:ALTG.DE - News) The German drugs and chemicals group reported 2003 sales up five percent at 2.7 billion euros, with EBIT up five percent at 563 million euros, below market forecasts of 571 million. It said pre-tax profit in 2004 will grow less strongly than sales.
BAYER (XETRA:BAYG.DE - News) The German drugs and chemicals group said it made an operating loss in 2003 of 1.203 billion euros ($1.48 billion), worse than analysts' expectations. Bayer said sales fell 3.6 percent to 28.567 billion euros. It said it planned to float the company formed from a large part of chemicals and part of Bayer MaterialScience, called Lanxess, on the stock market by early 2005 at the latest. Bayer said it intended to increase both the operating result before depreciation and amortisation and the operating result before special items by more than 10 percent this year.
