Shanghai, June 12 (Gasgoo.com) Chinese automaker BYD Co. saw its vehicle sales in May rise 38% from a year earlier to 45,020 units, Xinhua News reported recently, citing the company's statement.
In the January to May period, BYD sold 253,658 vehicles, up 77.9% year on year. The company expects to sell 800,000 cars this year, compared with 400,000 units in 2009. It plans to release five new car models this year to boost the sales.

The Chinese automaker backed by U.S. billionaire Warren Buffett is set to start selling its e6 electric car in the U.S. later this year and in Europe next year.
BYD plans to deliver 560 units of its electric car e6 to a taxi-fleet of its headquarters city of Shenzhen this year, with 40 units already delivered on May 17."
