Alcatel-Lucent Includes JDSU in IPTV Test & Measurement Best Practice Recommendations JDSU's Portfolio of IPTV Solutions Part of IPTV Ecosystem Working Group and Recommendations for Ensuring Live IPTV Networks
MILPITAS, Calif., June 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- JDSU, an official test and measurement partner for the Alcatel-Lucent IPTV ecosystem, today announced its participation in a white paper published by Alcatel-Lucent that focuses on ensuring quality of experience (QoE) in live IPTV networks. The white paper, "IPTV Test and Measurement Best Practices," provides recommendations that can be used as engineering guidelines for making operator-specific business decisions for service assurance.
JDSU's relationship with Alcatel-Lucent includes its QT Family of probes as well as its HST-3000 handheld field tester. JDSU's carrier-grade, scalable, multi-service probes detect patterns of quality of service (QoS) degradation through proactive traffic monitoring and, from a centralized location, quickly segment the network to identify the source of the problem. The JDSU HST-3000 handheld triple-play services tester is specifically designed to meet installation and maintenance test needs for access networks, including higher bit-rate triple play services like IPTV and HDTV.
"Alcatel-Lucent's findings not only validate JDSU's industry-leading IPTV test portfolio, they provide a solid foundation for engineers and operations managers confronted with the challenges of assuring IPTV quality in a live network environment," said Helmut Berg, president of JDSU's Communications Test & Measurement group. "We appreciate our role as a formal partner in the Alcatel-Lucent's IPTV Ecosystem and believe our scaleable IPTV test solutions ensure the IPTV experience in an economical way -- as outlined in the white paper."
JDSU's products are key components of the portfolio awarded Frost & Sullivan's 2006 Growth Strategy Award for IP Video/IPTV test, which recognized the company's leadership in the IPTV marketplace. JDSU has also been named Frost & Sullivan's 2007 Test & Measurement Company of the Year based on its product innovation, market-driven test solutions and exceptional customer service supporting the efficient, reliable deployment of broadband networks and services worldwide.
