Universal Express Signs Letter of Intent to Purchase Miami Airport Transportation Company Universal Express, Inc. (OTCBB: USXP), today announced the signing of a Letter of Intent for the acquisition of a majority interest in one of the oldest and most industry-revered trucking and delivery companies, Global Trucking Services, Inc., of Miami Florida. For many years, Global has been the flagship provider of both luggage delivery services as well as trucking services to most major airlines serving the Miami, Florida market. Over the past two years, Global has also become the premier provider of luggage and trucking services in Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
"We will welcome this time-tested and industry-respected company into the Universal Express family," said Richard A. Altomare, Chairman and CEO of Universal Express, Inc. "As our Luggage Express Division matures and enters mainstream thinking and application in the industry, alliances and airport branding with transportation logistics providers such as Global Trucking become increasingly relevant and important to our core business," continued Mr. Altomare.
Miami International ranks third in the United States by International passengers. Houston's George Bush Intercontinental ranks 10th in the U.S. by non-stop domestic and international flights.
"Our relationship with our new strategic partner, Universal Express," said Mr. Juan Gonzalez, President of Global Trucking Services, Inc., "includes a template for an aggressive and judicial expansion of our luggage and delivery services into additional selected major U.S. airport properties. We have long sought a relationship such as this and we look forward to an aggressive expansion as the luggage business paradigm moves closer to Universal's long-held view."
