Open RAN promised to revolutionise the radio access network marketplace, with its open interface specifications enabling a more diverse supplier ecosystem which, in turn, would lead to more choice, greater innovation and lower costs for telcos. However, Open RAN has diverged from its original concept into what it is today. How has the technology changed and how have the views of telcos changed?
