- und daher habe ich mir nach dem Einstieg bei Alibaba, die inzwischem mehr als 20% gut gemacht haben, auch einige Rakutens gekauft.

Look Out Amazon, Here Comes...Rakuten?
Japanese e-commerce firm Rakuten announced on Tuesday it is acquiring Ebates for $1 billion.

The acquisition, which Rakuten hinted at last week, is part of the Japanese company?s push to grow its base beyond its domestic market and hopefully, become a global player. Having made some $1.2 billion acquisitions to date along these lines, this is Rakuten?s most ambitious move to date.

However, investors are dubious that the company can absorb yet another foreign acquisition, much less one the size of Ebates, despite Rakuten?s strong cash position.
Then there is the ever-present Amazon, which dominates the e-commerce market in the U.S. Few believe it will falter in the face of Chinese giant Alibaba, much less a Rakuten-Ebates combo.

Rakuten Goes Forth

Not surprisingly, Rakuten says it is undaunted. For starters, it has assembled a very interesting mix of acquisitions. There is messaging app Viber, which it purchased for $900 million in February, the Canadian ebook offering Kobo, Spanish video service Wuaki.tv, Viki, a digital content platform and Buy.com.
Now it has picked up Ebates.

das bei 6,50 ? rum eine Unterstützung den weiteren Kursverfall aufhält,dorthin allerdings dürfte sich der Kurs hin bewegen.
Alles in allem bleibt Rakuten seit Jahren eine einzige Enttäuschung und gehört sicherlich zu den Aktien die man keinesfalls im Depot haben sollte.
Wer in ausgesprochen guten Börsenjahren eine derartige Negativperformance hinlegt,dem dürfte in Zeiten sich abschwächender Wirtschaftskonjunktur weiteres Ungemach drohen.

Maupile agreed that methods of enterprise adoption associated with previous generations of cellular have been successful and he warned of greenfield network operators like Rakuten entering the market and posing a legitimate challenge to established telcos.

?They are going to enter and they are going to disrupt the section. The likelihood that someone will enter your market is pretty high.? And that dynamic puts the impetus on telcos to ?transition now? to open, cloud-native networks. He gave the example of Telefonica as a multinational telco that ?decided not to wait.?

Singapore fintech startup Coda Payments raises over $20m

Singapore-based payments service provider Coda Payments announced that it?s bagged an investment of more than US$20 million in a deal led by private equity asset manager Apis Partners through its Apis Growth Fund II.

Founded in 2011, Coda helps publishers such as Tencent, Garena, and Netflix monetize games and other digital content. Through Codapay, Coda allows these companies to accept more than 100 payment methods on their websites, including direct carrier billing, bank or ATM transfer, cash payments at convenience stores, online vouchers, and e-wallets.

It also operates Codashop, a platform where users can top up their game credits and other digital services. It also offers a white-label version of Codashop, which allows ecommerce sites to offer a wide range of digital content.

In April, the company said it has been profitable for around a year and a half. Since it began processing transactions in 2013, Coda claims to have tripled the total value of payments that it handles annually on average.

It has raised at least US$5.3 million from a number of funding rounds, according to data from Crunchbase. Its existing backers include GMO Global Payment Fund, Rakuten Ventures, CyberAgent Ventures, and Golden Gate Ventures, among others.
