Mawson Resources (TSX: MAW)(OTC: MWSNF) is fast becoming a go-to name in the red-hot gold space.
Its gone from 16-cents to 43-cents over the past few weeks. But that 168% run is just the beginning.
Quite literally they are only getting started. A few weeks ago it put out drill results from its flagship project in Finland that included 7 meters of 17 grams per tonne gold. Thats what kicked this run off.
But adding to it is what Mawson has been able to do in the Victorian Goldfields of Australia, which has become some of the hottest gold mining and exploration ground in the world over the past few years.
Thats where Kirkland Lakes high grade Fosterville mine is. Thats propelled that stock from $4.00 to $65.00 over the past few years.
Victoria has always been one of the world's premier gold areas with over 80 million ounces produced there since the 1850s. But Fosterville has rewritten it by finding high-grade gold beneath the old mines in what are called epizonal deposits.
This has opened up a new opportunity in the area, and Mawson has rushed in to secure some of the best land, including Sunday Creek, which was one of the more significant producers back in the 1850s with grades over 200 grams per tonne gold.
Mawson now 100% owns Sunday Creek, including over 19,000 hectares where there are multiple previous gold mines but where drilling has only gone down to 80 meters.
According to CEO Michael Hudson: "While we continue to drill with success in Finland, we are extremely excited to have also diversified into the Victorian goldfields in Australia, which are arguably the hottest gold ground in the world with the high-grade Fosterville mine rewriting the geological opportunity.
Given the exploration success at Fosterville we now understand that epizonal systems can develop extremely high-grade zones. This has provided insight into a never-explored search space for high grades at depth in one of the most fertile gold regions in the world.
In combination with their high-grade results in Finland, this is why Mawson Resources (TSX: MAW) stock has been moving.
And again, this is only the beginning. Mawson is planning on drilling Sunday Creek later this year, which could really send the market into a frenzy. |
