Giving the UK ISP’s subscribers access to a wide range of additional films, leading European video-on-demand platform Rakuten TV is teaming with UK pay-TV provider TalkTalk TV to offer users a new SVOD service with access to a range of popular films.

The deal will see TalkTalk TV Boost customers who have been subscribed to a TalkTalk TV Boost from 1 July 2019 gain access to the new Rakuten TV Movie Club as part of their subscription. TalkTalk TV customers will be able to enjoy films from an extensive movie catalogue including titles which will be refreshed each week.

The TalkTalk TV partnership marks the next stage in Rakuten TV’s strategy to increase its presence in Europe, following the announcement of its extension plans earlier this year, where the platform tripled its distribution from 12 to 42 countries to reach more than 30 million European households.

A San Francisco court sided with Lyft last week in a big decision for the company's bike-sharing service.
The court ruled that Lyft has an exclusive contract with the city for both docked and dockless bikes.
When it comes to e-bikes, Lyft also has first-offer for a contract. The city wants there to be multiple operators.

Wall Street analysts say Lyft's exclusive contracts with more cities, including New York, could be a big tailwind. "We believe that increasing the number of use cases on Lyft, including through options such as shared rides and bikes & scooters can drive active riders higher," JPMorgan said in a research note earlier this summer.


A Lyft spokesperson said the company is looking forward to expanding its e-bike program, which also hit the streets in the East Bay, about 12 miles outside of San Francisco, last week.

Rakuten Lifull Stay connects VacationStay with Beds24

Tokyo: Vacation rental service provider Rakuten Lifull Stay has announced its vacation rental and accommodation booking site VacationStay has partnered with channel manager Beds24.

The Rakuten Group company said its booking site was partnering with one of the world’s leading channel managers, which is operated by MPK Systems Ltd. It marks the first time that VacationStay has partnered with a global channel manager to date.

Beds24 is an all-in-one cloud service that is linked to major OTAs and utilised by vacation rental and accommodation providers in more than 130 countries around the world. As a result of the system partnership, property managers and their agents who use Beds24 in Japan will soon be able to list their properties on VacationStay and its partner accommodation booking sites, including Rakuten Travel.

Taiwan joins Asia digital banking push with three new online licenses

TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan issued its first virtual banking licenses to three consortiums led by Taiwan and Japanese investors, its financial authorities said on Tuesday, following moves by regulators in other Asian markets to issue such licenses.
Asia's internet firms are challenging the region's traditional banks for consumer finances, hoping to increase competition and drive innovation in their markets, while non-banking companies are keen to challenge traditional banks by leveraging their technology and user databases.

Another license was granted to Rakuten International Commercial Bank, which was operated by Japanese e-commerce firm Rakuten Inc and Taiwan's IBF Financial Holdings.

Lyft motorized scooters expanding service area in Dallas

Lyft motorized scooters will be popping up in more neighborhoods around Dallas, the rideshare company announced today in a press release.

The new neighborhoods where people will be able to find Lyft scooters are Fair Park, Bishop Arts, Wynnewood North, Lake Cliff, Cedars, South Boulevard/Park Row and Owenwood, among others. The company is not adding any scooters to its fleet, but is moving scooters into the South Dallas area, Miller Nuttle, senior manager of Bike and Pedestrian Policy for Lyft said in an email to the Dallas Business Journal.

Rakuten and The H Collective to Form Joint Venture to Produce Movies
