Motient, OracleMobile Announce Joint Marketing Pact; Companies to Mutually Market Wireless Offerings RESTON, Va., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Motient Corporation (Nasdaq: MTNT - news) announced today that it has entered a cooperative marketing partnership with OracleMobile, a subsidiary of Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL - news) focused on the wireless Internet industry, to mutually promote Motient's wireless data network and OracleMobile's Ask@OracleMobile services for two-way wireless messaging devices.
Under the agreement, Motient will be featured on OracleMobile's wireless portal, through initial placement of Motient's logo and description of services on the OracleMobile site at http://www.oraclemobile.com. Motient also will place the OracleMobile logo and service descriptions regarding the Ask@OracleMobile services in the Content Provider section of the Motient web site, as well as on the ``eLinkmail'' home page of Motient's eLinkSM wireless email service, which supports Internet browsing.
The Ask@OracleMobile services, launched in June, turn two-way wireless messaging devices into Web devices by allowing them to access the Internet without a browser. The first services launched were stock quotes, traffic, flight information, driving directions, horoscopes, lottery, dictionary, translation and weather. In a separate announcement today, OracleMobile extended its support of two-way wireless messaging devices with the launch of an additional set of Ask@OracleMobile services including news, movie guide, eBay and package tracking.
``Our agreement with Motient will help us deliver the most useful and innovative mobile services available on the Motient network,'' said Denise Lahey, CEO of OracleMobile. ``Now Motient's customers will be able to use their wireless email devices to access personalized Web information on demand.''
``Motient's cooperative marketing agreement with OracleMobile is a major milestone in our continuing efforts to wirelessly enhance data services through the Motient Network,'' said Walter V. Purnell, Jr., president and CEO of Motient. ``Our relationship with OracleMobile reaffirms the unique role we play in providing wireless email and Internet access to a wide variety of end users throughout the country.''
Since its introduction in October 1999, Motient's eLink wireless email service has grown into an industry-leading offering that delivers wireless communication over the nation's largest two-way data network to more than 220 million people. Elink, which also supports Internet browsing, is provided using a wireless handheld device, and is carried on the Motient wireless network, which offers superior coverage and in-building penetration.
