United Internet to revive Freenet takeover plans via MSP joint venture - report
FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - United Internet AG (Nachrichten/Aktienkurs) is pursuing a takeover of Freenet AG (Nachrichten/Aktienkurs) through its joint venture with Drillisch AG after it walked away from talks with Freenet over a strategic cooperation, Handelsblatt reported, citing sources at United Internet.
German internet access provider United Internet is now implementing initial plans to buy Freenet through the MSP Holding joint venture with wireless services company Drillisch, the paper cited the sources as saying.
United Internet declined to comment on the issue, Handelsblatt reported.
The company yesterday said it terminated talks on a strategic cooperation with Freenet, without giving reasons.
Drillisch and United Internet announced in September they are forming MSP, which will be endowed with Drillisch's 6.01 pct stake in Freenet. MSP holds options to buy a further 18.49 pct in Freenet and may also acquire the remaining shares, the companies said at the time |
