MOSCOW, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Russia's largest oil producer LUKOIL said on Tuesday its oil and gas production and refining operations grew in the first half of 2001 in a continuation of the previous year's positive trends.
"LUKOIL's preliminary results for the first half of 2001 show a continuation and strengthening of positive trends in the company's operations," LUKOIL said in a statement on its 2000 GAAP profit figures.
"Growth of oil and gas output volumes, refining and sales of oil products through our own marketing network is continuing," the statement said. The company said it was diversifying and expanding its operations to ensure it remained competitive regardless of oil price dynamics.
The company's 2000 results showed net profits according to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) grew to $3.312 billion from $1.062 billion. The company has not released figures using international standards.
