The Company further reports that the first two small exports of the Baoulé diamond production, of approximately 2,350 carats, have now been prepared and are ready for sale. Though rough diamond prices have been soft since Q4-14, some producers have indicated that prices may now be stabilising. Stellar will now offer the Baoulé goods, as well as other diamond inventory from other projects of approximately 3,700 carats, for sale in Antwerp, which when sold will represent first revenues from the planned cycle of exports during 2015 from Baoulé.

München - Dem Markt für Diamanten drohen einer Studie zufolge schon bald Engpässe. "Die Diamantenförderung kann die steigende Nachfrage nur bis etwa 2019 befriedigen", berichteten die Managementberatung Bain & Company und das Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) am Donnerstag in München. "In fünf Jahren werden Diamanten knapp."

Der Grund ist der Studie zufolge vor allem die steigende Nachfrage in den USA, wo Bain ein langfristiges Absatzwachstum von bis zu drei Prozent jährlich über die nächsten zehn Jahre prognostiziert. In dem Land habe die Branche 2013 rund ein Drittel ihres weltweiten Umsatzes mit Diamantschmuck erwirtschaftet. Zudem werde sich der Absatz in China dank wachsender Mittelschicht und Urbanisierung bis 2024 voraussichtlich verdoppeln.

Bis dahin wird nach der Prognose gleichzeitig das absehbare Fördervolumen von Rohdiamanten etwa wegen alternder Minen um bis zu zwei Prozent zurückgehen. Schon bis 2019 werde sich die Rohdiamantenproduktion auf rund 163 Millionen Karat belaufen - und damit unter den 177 Millionen Karat von 2005 liegen.  

Doch die Diamantenförderung könne die steigende Nachfrage nur bis etwa zum Jahr 2019 befriedigen, heißt es von Bain weiter. Bis 2024 wiederum werde das derzeit absehbare Fördervolumen von Rohdiamanten wegen alternder Minen und des Wechsels hin zum Untertagebau um bis zu zwei Prozent zurückgehen. Dabei werde sich die Produktion von Rohdiamanten bis zum Jahr 2019 auf 163 Millionen Karat (0,2 Gramm) jährlich belaufen und damit unter den 177 Millionen aus dem Jahr 2005 liegen.

       42% increase in the scoping study NPV10 to US$75m for surface and underground mine

   Financial Highlights:
       US$0.9m invested to build and commission the Baoulé trial mining operation
       Administrative costs reduced significantly to US$0.9m during the 6 month period (H2-13: US$1.5m)
       Cash and diamonds held for sale of US$0.5m at period end
       US$1.05m of funding in the period through the issue of equity and credit

next diamond sale of up to 4,439 carats from trial mining of its Baoulé kimberlite project in the Aredor area of Guinea will take place in Dubai and Antwerp via the eDiamond auction platform during May. The sale process will include gem quality stones up to 12.6cts in size.

The goods will be available to view in the offices of eDiamond in Dubai from the 10 to 13 May and in Antwerp from the 18 to 25 May with the auction expected to close at the end of May 2015.
