Polysilicon suppliers making efforts to minimize impact of China anti-dumping, anti-subsidy tariffs

As the China government is likely to decide on anti-dumping and anti-subsidy tariffs against polysilicon imported from makers in the US, Europe and South Korea, some polysilicon makers have had company executives visit China to talk with government officials in a bid to minimize possible rates, according to industry sources.
Solar makers noted that the China government knows that levying tariff on imported polysilicon will negatively affect downstream solar firms, and so has reportedly decided to levy different tariffs by firm, not by country.
Some reports have stated that levying tariffs on imported polysilicon will negatively impact China-based downstream firms more than benefit domestic polysilicon makers, hence it is likely that China will not follow through with punitive tariffs.
However, China-based and international makers believe the China government will likely use the investigation as a bargaining chip to negotiate with the EU to help domestic solar makers that are currently subject to the EU's anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation.
