Eastmain Resources Inc. (TSX - ER) is pleased to announce the discovery of a new gold target at its wholly-owned Clearwater project, located in James Bay, Northern Québec. Surface prospecting along favourable deposit stratigraphy this summer led to the discovery of the Boomerang Prospect, where a composite grab sample of vein material, located one-half kilometre east of the Eau Claire gold deposit, assayed 254 g/t Au (7.42 ounces gold per ton), 640 g/t Ag (18.7 ounces silver per ton) and >500 g/t tellurium (Map 1, website).

TGR: Any other juniors that pique your interest?
VG: Sure. Eastmain Resources Inc. (TSX:ER). All I really tell anybody who asks me about Eastmain is, 'Buy it and put it away.' I talk about very few companies that way, and rarely would that apply to a company that is not a major. Eastmain is nowhere near a major, but they're in great shape. They have a beautiful deposit, over a million ounces of high-grade material at Clearwater. They've had results as high as 75 ounces per ton gold, but the lower grade 1 ounce per ton material is consistent throughout the property. The beauty is it's not just some little core area with these nice newsworthy grades. It's everywhere.
This is very attractive to a major, and Goldcorp Inc. (NYSE:GG) just so happens to be very nearby. So as far as I know, Eastmain will continue to develop their project until it's time for Goldcorp to buy them out. Goldcorp already owns 9.9%. But Eastmain is in a perfectly good position. They've got all weather roads, they've got power lines going to the property, James Bay is right there. So they have all the ingredients and if they wanted to go after this on their own, they could. But they've also got the luxury of being right beside a very interested major. On top of all of this, Eastmain has $17 million in the bank, which is really like having $25 million because for every dollar you put in the ground, you get 50 cents back from the government in Quebec. Very few jurisdictions do that.
- The Gold Report Interview with Victor Goncalves (11/06/09)
"Eastmain spent a day marketing with LBS in Toronto on Tuesday October 13, 2009. Management documented advancements on the Clearwater, Eleonore South and Eastmain Mine projects. We maintain our assessment of the quality of Eastmain's exploration and development projects.
Eastmain is in a good position to deliver positive results because of its exploration activities, financial flexibility and quality management.
We continue to believe that Eastmain's land position will lead to more sizeable discoveries and that Eastmain should create shareholder value by virtue of its qualities as a strong explorer."
-ERIC LEMIEUX, LAURENTIAN BANK SECURITIES (10/16/09)
"Eastmain Resources jumped on news that it has discovered a gold target at its Clearwater project, in James Bay, Northern Québec. Surface prospecting along favorable deposit stratigraphy led to the discovery of the Boomerang Prospect, where a composite grab sample of vein material, 0.5km east of the Eau Claire gold deposit, assayed 254 g/t Au (7.42 ounces gold per ton), 640 g/t Ag (18.7 ounces silver per ton) and (greater than) 500 g/t tellurium. Other anomalous samples within the Boomerang Prospect area include 30.6 g/t Au (0.89 ounces gold per ton) and 9.04 g/t Au in key volcanic/sedimentary rocks, up to 8km east of the deposit. The Boomerang prospect contains a highly enriched gold-tellurium metal signature similar to Eau Claire, suggesting it was derived from the same hydrothermal gold-bearing system. This prospect will be drill-tested in future programs. Eastmain has a 100% interest in the Eau Claire and Eastmain gold deposits."
- Morning Coffee, Canaccord Capital (09/25/09)
"On September 24, 2009, Eastmain announced drill results and the discovery of a new gold target at the Clearwater project located in James Bay area. The increasing confidence in gold content and quantity on the 450 West Zone area of the Eau Claire deposit, as well as other catalysts, have had impact on our valuation.
We believe that Eastmain is advancing on several fronts and holds a portfolio of gold projects of increasing value. We recommend Eastmain with a Speculative Buy rating and are increasing our 12-month target price to $2.20 per share from $1.60."
-ERIC LEMIEUX, LAURENTIAN BANK SECURITIES (09/25/09)
"I last updated Eastmain in March as a buy at $0.90 and a lot lower in the meltdown. It has done well and then today the stock hit new highs, going as high as $1.50 on news that Eastmain discovered a new gold target at its wholly owned Clearwater project, located in James Bay, Que. Surface prospecting along favorable deposit stratigraphy this summer led to the discovery of the Boomerang prospect, where a composite grab sample of vein material, located one-half kilometer east of the Eau Claire gold deposit, assayed 254 grams per ton gold (7.42 ounces per ton gold), 640 grams per ton silver (18.7 ounces per ton silver) and (greater than) 500 grams per ton tellurium.
Other anomalous samples within the Boomerang prospect area include 30.6 grams per ton gold (0.89 ounce per ton gold) and 9.04 grams per ton gold in key volcanic/sedimentary rocks, located up to eight kilometers east of the deposit. The Boomerang prospect contains a highly enriched gold-tellurium metal signature similar to Eau Claire, which suggests it was derived from the same hydrothermal gold-bearing system. Boomerang will be drill-tested in future programs.
I have not suggested taking any profits in the stock yet as they just have too many good things going for them. It sure looks like this new discovery will lead to more gold at Clearwater and they just started a 3,500-meter drill program on their Eleonore South project a joint venture with Goldcorp."

Goldangebot sinkt langfristig

Central banks will be net buyers of gold this year as they diversify away from the U.S. dollar, marking a reversal of a decades-old trend, global commodities investment fund BlackRock said on Monday in comments that helped drive bullion to fresh record highs.
Investment in gold by central banks has picked up recently, with India buying 200 tons from the International Monetary Fund, and Taiwan's central bank is studying whether to raise the amount of gold in its forex reserves, with China and South Korea also debating the issue.
BlackRock is one of the world's largest fund managers, boasting a total $1.4 trillion under management across all asset classes. It is manager and adviser to the U.S. Federal Reserve and its views can influence the direction of global markets.
Evy Hambro, who runs two of the world's largest commodities funds, BlackRock World Mining Fund and Gold & General Fund, gave an upbeat outlook for gold during a media briefing in Australia.
His forecast for net central-bank purchases of gold this year would, if met, mark the first year in two decades when the world's central banks bought more gold than they sold. They have been net sellers each year since 1988.
Gold stored in central banks worldwide has dropped more than one-sixth since 1989.
"The most recent break-out in the gold price in U.S. dollars has caused most gold prices to start trending higher at the same time," Hambro said, adding that investors were now looking for gold to rise in other commodities as well as U.S. dollars.
"When you start to see the price rising in a range of different currencies, it is a clear sign of a very strong market to come," he added.
Spot gold stood at $1,123.70 after touching $1,126.30 per ounce, a record, versus the notional New York close of $1,118.50, helped higher by Hambro's bullish outlook, according to financial broking group IG Markets.
Bullion has been on an upward spiral as a hedge against the U.S. dollar's weakness and rising inflation risks, traditional reasons to lap up gold.
Based on the dollar index of major currencies, the U.S. dollar has dropped 7.5 percent this year versus a 33 percent rise in the U.S. dollar gold price. In other currencies, gold has not reached new highs since early 2009. In Australian and Canadian dollars and the South African rand, it peaked in February.
But Hambro said investors were now "looking for price rises across all currencies" as central banks built up their gold holdings and global supplies tapered off. "Gold's role is gathering a lot more attention in terms of risk diversification," he said.
By 1999 central bank selling was so commonplace that the big European banks signed a pact capping sales at 400 tons a year to keep the price from collapsing. It worked. Gold has gone up just about every year since.
Hambro also said the high level of gold production in China, which has replaced South Africa as the world's biggest producer, was not sustainable, pressuring world supply.
China's output rose 13.49 percent in the first half of 2009 from a year earlier to 146.505 tons, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
China is widely assumed to be buying domestic gold production after revealing in April it held 1,054 tons of gold, a jump of 76 percent from its last word on the subject six years earlier.
The Reserve Bank of India last month bought 200 tons of gold from the International Monetary Fund, and Sri Lanka's central bank governor told Reuters this month his bank had been buying gold for the past five or six months.
But not all banks are trading foreign currencies for gold.
Korea has the world's sixth largest foreign exchange reserves but ranks 56th in terms of gold holdings. Its governor has said it would not be easy for the bank to suddenly increase gold holdings because of the market impact.
Japan has kept its gold reserves steady at 24.6 million troy ounces since mid-2001.
The Royal Bank of Australia has not bought any gold since selling two-thirds of its reserve in 1997.
Hambro also said U.S. demand for commodities was starting to show signs of recovery. This, along with stronger Asian demand, set the stage for a prolonged bull market, he added.

Eastmain Resources Inc. - Eau Claire Assays & Metallurgy 35 High Grade Gold-Tellurium intersections 94 to 96% Gravity + flotation gold recovery
TORONTO, Dec 03, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Eastmain Resources Inc. (ER) is pleased to announce assay data from recent definition drilling and preliminary metallurgical test results from its Eau Claire Gold Deposit, located in James Bay, Quebec. 48 holes totaling 14,569 metres have been completed during this phase of drilling.
Holes 216 through 228 intersected 35 gold-bearing quartz-tourmaline veins, including multiple intersections containing over one ounce of gold, adding to an overall increase in the grade and size of the deposit (Table 1). Preliminary metallurgical test work on the primary grind indicates impressive gold recoveries, ranging from approximately 94 to 96%, solely from gravity plus flotation techniques. Further testing to determine the overall final gold recovery and optimal processing, using a additional techniques, is still underway. Eau Claire also contains important byproduct rare metals including tellurium and bismuth, which may contribute to the total net smelter return value of the gold deposit. Further testing will also include determination of byproduct recoveries.

The Eau Claire deposit contains a significant amount of tellurium as well as free gold. There is a positive correlation of gold and tellurium with multiple vein intersections containing in excess of one ounce of tellurium per ton (Table 1). Tellurium is one of the rarest metals on earth and is most frequently recovered as a byproduct from refining copper. Tellurium is used in semi-conductors and ceramics. It is often alloyed with cast iron, copper and stainless steel and added to lead to prevent corrosion. Increasingly, tellurium is being used to tint windows for "smart-heating" used in the manufacture of solar cells, CD's, DVD's, Blu-ray disks and flash drives. Recent advances in computer memory technology include a new application utilizing tellurium in "phase change memory chips" that can hold large amounts of data in a small space, replacing conventional memory chips. The price of tellurium over the past five years has varied from $10 to $180 per pound, however the demand from this new technology is likely to put pressure on the world's limited supply, causing an increase in tellurium metal price.
Bismuth is another byproduct at Eau Claire. Bismuth, though not as rare as tellurium, is also a metal with many significant uses. It is widely used in producing malleable irons, as a catalyst for making acrylic fibres, in cosmetics and in medicines as well as fire detection and extinguishing systems. Bismuth is also used as a thermocouple, as it has the highest negativity known. Currently used as a carrier for uranium fuel in nuclear reactors, bismuth will become increasingly more important in the quest for "clean" energy systems. Scientists at Stanford University also claim bismuth-telluride, a semi-conductor, which can withstand significantly higher temperatures than silicon, may replace standard semi-conductor electronics (TFOT- www.thefutureofthings.com).
