Professor Zhao is currently Chairman of the MIS Department and First Deputy Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University. Professor Zhao is generally thought to be one of the preeminent thinkers in his field of study and holds various professional memberships including: Chairman, National Advisory Committee of Management Education in Engineering Universities; Vice Chairman, National MBA Education Supervisory Committee; Vice Director, Board of Systems Engineering Society of China; Vice Director, Board of Information Economics Society of China; and Standing Director, China Information Industry Association.
During his career Professor Zhao has worked as a project leader for the World Bank, a consultant for the Canadian International Development Agency and as a project director for the Beijing State Science and Technology Committee.
