.....Activity was 950 MWe, in line with 2013 guidance (1,800 MW-2,000 MW). Latin America+Southern Cone is still the main growth driver, accounting for 48% of sales, followed by Europe+Rest of the World (32%) and India (16%). The contribution by the US (4%) and China (1%) declined in 1H 2013.

Order intake rebounded strongly in the second quarter (612 MW), tripling the figure in the first quarter of 2013, driven by Latin America+Southern Cone and India and enabling the group to cover 90% of sales guidance for 2013. The order book amounted to 1,547 MW at the end of June 2013.

Operation & Maintenance (O&M) revenues (16% of the total) expanded by 18% in 1H 2013, to 180 million euro, i.e. far outstripping growth in MW under maintenance (+7%, 19,450 MW at 30 June), as the company is prioritising value over volume.

Sound financial position and growing profitability. Gamesa obtained 66 million euro in EBIT in the first half of 2013, providing an EBIT margin of 5.9% (vs. 0.9% in 1H 2012), i.e. above the guidance range for the year (3%-5%). Despite slower sales, profitability continues to increase based on the sales mix, increased productivity, sound execution of the fixed costs savings plan (-22% vs. 1H 2012) and the strong contribution by the services division (EBIT margin: 12.9%).

This improvement in profitability, together with the strategy to control working capital and capital expenditure (51 million euro, 48% less than in 1H 2012) reinforced the balance sheet and enabled net financial debt to be reduced by 33.9% in 1H 2013, to 620 million euro (2.2x EBITDA). Indebtedness plus non-recourse discounting declined to 706 million euro (vs. 944 million euro at 2012 year-end), after the company generated 109 million euro in net free cash flow in the second quarter of 2013.....

Weiterhin viel Erfolg.

Eletrobras consortia land nearly 60% of 1.5GW auction

Thu Aug 29 2013, 17:05 PM Print Email
Consortia including affiliates of Brazil's state utility Eletrobrás landed PPAs totalling at least 826MW in the country's August 23 federal power auction, which was exclusive to wind power and which doled out 20-year PPAs totalling 1.5GW. All 1.5GW is scheduled for commissioning by September 2015.

The 826MW identified are wrapped up in PPAs handed to affiliates Chefs (611MW) and Furnas (245MW).

The final contracts, with the Camara de Comercializacao de Energia Eletrica (CCEE) are yet to be finalised.

Chesf and partners landed PPAs across the states of Bahia and Piaui. The company confirmed to the local press that the projects are already tied up with turbine technology from Gamesa, GE and Wobben.
Chesf is partnered with American capital venture firm, Sequoia (within the technically GPEXPAN consortium) for nine projects totalling 102MW in the Pindai district of Bahia state.
Chefs also landed PPAs for 60MW with Brennand in Bahia's Sento Se district.
With Contour Global and private investment fund Salus, Chesf was granted PPAs for thirteen projects, in the state of Piaui, each at 30MW.

For its part, fellow Eletrobras affiliate, Furnas, is partnered with private investment fund Caixa Milao, holding 49% and 51%, respectively. The joint venture was allocated PPA rights for thirteen projects totalling 245MW across the Rio do Fogo and Pureza districts of Rio Grande do Norte state.

79561 Postings, 9144 Tage KickyGamesa hat gute Aussichten in Brasilien

Only three or four wind turbine manufacturers will survive in the Brazilian market in the long term, Gamesa’s Edgard Corrochano tells Recharge.
“With a 2GW-a-year market, the most logical thing would be for three to four — most likely three — manufacturers to stay in the market, and we will be one of them,” he says. To make the grade, he believes “you need decent volumes, and we have that, along with maybe two more”.

Gamesa has won big in Brazilian power tenders over the past few years. Corrochano, the company’s director for the Southern Cone region, says it did “pretty well” in the wind reserve auction last month.

He will not confirm the amount of megawatts the company won, citing confidentiality agreements. But Recharge has learned that companies that registered to use Gamesa turbines won at least 462MW in the latest tender — significantly more than any other manufacturer in Brazil — from Enel, Casa dos Ventos, CER and Chesf/Sequóia.

Gamesa had already won more than 600MW from previous tenders between 2009 and 2011. Corrochano says it is also confident of adding more volume in the A-5 auction in December.

To meet the new orders and to comply with more stringent local-content requirements set by national development bank BNDES, Gamesa is significantly expanding its factory in Bahia state. Corrochano will not reveal by how much this will increase the plant’s present nameplate capacity of 200-300MW per year.

However, he does say Gamesa is one of “the most advanced” manufacturers in terms of fulfilling the new BNDES requirements.....
Although Corrochano admits that it is hard to predict how market consolidation will play out, he estimates that “by 2015, a lot will happen”.

He says the August tender has shown more realistic prices, at an average of about R$110 ($42) per MWh. “You can see that when there is a decent level of power demand, the price comes up.”

Along with other industry players, he calculates that turbine prices have increased by 20-25% because of the stricter local-content requirements. ... However, on the positive side, by producing more components locally, the industry is less exposed to exchange-rate fluctuations.

All in all, Corrochano says last month’s reserve auction, where 1.5GW was tendered, and the decision to include wind in the A-5 tender will “bring the market to the 2GW level needed to sustain the industry”, and things “continue to go in the right direction” in terms of energy policy.

Spanish renewables group Abengoa will build and operate a 70MW wind farm in Uruguay after securing a deal with state power utility UTE.
Abengoa will construct the $165m plant in Palomas, in Uruguay’s Salto Department.

The Spanish group said it will handle EPC for the wind farm and then run the plant under a 20-year agreement with UTE that Abengoa said will generate $500m in revenues over its lifetime.

Abengoa itself expects to contribute $6m in equity to the project, which will deliver power to about 100,000 Uruguayans.

The Palomas development will use 35 2MW wind turbines, said Abengoa. It does not specify a turbine supplier, but has chosen those from Spanish compatriot Gamesa for a previous wind project in Uruguay.

Spanish turbine manufacturer Gamesa has signed a deal with Iberdrola to equip the 202MW Baffin wind farm in the US state of Texas.
Gamesa will supply its Spanish compatriot with 101 of its G97-2.0 MW for the project in southern Texas.

The plant is due for commissioning towards the end of next year, with the turbines beginning to arrive in mid-2014.

Iberdrola’s final decision to proceed with Baffin is still contingent on approval from the local authorities, said a statement.

The developer is “well-positioned” to use the turbines at other possible US projects if necessary, it added.

Baffin is due to be the last phase of Iberdrola's 606MW  Peñascal complex.

The order is the largest single deal yet for the G97-2.0 MW, Gamesa said.
