LED equipment supplier Single Well receives orders from LCD players
Siu Han, Taipei; Greg Wu, DIGITIMES [Thursday 27 December 2007]
Single Well Industrial, a major LED molding equipment supplier in Taiwan with customers including Everlight Electronics, Lite-On Technology, Unity Opto Technology, Bright LED and Harvatek, has been receiving orders from new customers such as China-based LED packaging companies, backlight unit (BLU) maker Forward Electronics and AUO affiliated company Wellypower Optronics, a CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) maker.
Single Well expects its December orders to reach NT$92.8 million, and the orders from China-based LED packaging makers will account for nearly NT$20 million of the total. However, as delivery and customer checks for the LED equipment requires about 3-6 months, the revenues from its December orders will not be credited to the company until the first half of 2008.
The company should see its revenues increase from about NT$500 million (US$15.3 million) this year to NT$650-700 million in 2008, an increase of 30-40% on year, as confirmed orders for the first half of 2008 already total more than NT$300 million, according to market watchers.
Tatung subsidiary Forward Electronics will focus on LED packaging and is looking to make headway into the high-brightness LED market. The company expects to place LED molding equipment orders for 150 units, with the goal of increasing its current one high-brightness LED production line to 3-4 lines of in the future.
With LEDs expected to steadily replace CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) for use in LCD panel lighting applications, Taiwan-based CCFL specialist Wellypower Optronics is looking to develop LED solutions. Despite its small initial shipment volumes, the company is looking to expand its capacity |
