Reuters) - Italy's UniCredit has increased its funding commitment to renewable energy projects, boosted by clearer solar power rules in Italy and two big offshore wind projects in northern Europe, its head of project finance told Reuters on Tuesday.
Italy's biggest bank had a global exposure to the renewable energy sector at the end of 2010 of 6.1 billion euros ($8.83 billion). Around half was in the wind-power sector and almost 40 percent in solar.
"Our global exposure has increased by 10 pct to around 7 billion euros at the end of June and we expect a further 10 percent growth from here to the end of the year," Massimo Pecorari said.
He said the bank had committed to two large offshore wind projects, one in Britain and one in Germany, but declined to name developers.
"We expect the projects to come on line at the end of the year," he said. |
