S&P changes prompt dramatic price moves (AMH, TALX, HVT, SEI, VLNC, ICUI, JILL, ATIS, STLW) By Michael Baron
Standard & Poor's has made a number of changes to its indices. AmerUS (AMH) is gaining $2.02, or 5.7 percent, to $37.32, on news that the company would replace Lands' End, which is being acquired by Sears, in the S&P MidCap 400 index. Talx (TALX) is rising 72 cents, or 4 percent, to $18.52, and Haverty Furniture (HVT) is up $1.37, or 8.2 percent, to $18.03, after the companies were tabbed to join the S&P SmallCap 600 index, replacing Seitel (SEI) and Valence (VLNC) , who are both being removed for lack of representation. Seitel is off 2 percent, while Valence is down 8 percent. Meanwhile, ICU Medical (ICUI) is advancing $2.87, or 9.5 percent, to $33.22, and J. Jill (JILL) is up $1.58, or 4.7 percent, to $35.25, following news that both companies will also join the S&P SmallCap 600 index.
Advanced Tissue (ATIS) , losing 16 percent, and Stratos Lightwave (STLW) , sinking more than 10 percent, are being removed for lack of representation.
