January 2012 - Spudding of the Shabeel-1

Horn Petroleum, the well operator, is currently preparing to drill ahead to a total planned maximum depth of 3,800 meters. Drilling operations have also commenced on the Shabeel North-1 well with the setting of the 30 inch surface casing and the drilling of a 50 meter pilot hole.

November 2011 - Final Site Preparations

Horn Petroleum Corp. ("Horn") is currently in final preparations to commence a two well drilling campaign in the Dharoor Valley Block, with the first well (Shabeel‐1) planned to spud in December 2011. Drilling locations have been selected over two robust prospects targeting gross best estimated prospective resources of over 300 million barrels each, based on internal operator estimates.

Horn has completed sourcing drilling related materials and the majority of materials are on site or on route to the drilling site. Site preparation including the drill site, air strip and ingress route construction have been completed. Water wells are currently being drilled to provide source water for drilling operations.

Range entered into a Heads of Agreement in October 2005 to acquire a 50.1% interest in the sole and exclusive rights to all mineral and hydrocarbon exploration and development in the Somali state of Puntland.

In July 2006, the Company reached an agreement to acquire the residual 49.9% interest in the rights to the exploration and development of Puntland’s natural resources. Range has since relinquished its exclusive mining rights in the region.

In October 2006 Range signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Africa Oil in relation to an US$50m 80% farm in right in the Nogal Basin and Darin Basin Blocks. This resulted in a Joint Venture project being formalised between Range and Africa Oil which saw the formal signing of the Product Sharing Agreement between Range, Africa Oil and the Puntland Government take place on 17 January 2007.  The formal signing of the PSA cemented the ongoing co-operative and committed relationship between Range, Africa Oil and the Puntland government and confirmed the willingness of all the parties involved to develop the natural resources of Puntland.

In mid 2010 ASX/AIM listed company, Red Emperor Resources farmed into a 20% share of Africa Oil's 80%. Subsequently Africa Oil spun out its interests in Puntland into TSX listed Horn Petroleum as a fully focused Puntland vehicle.

Current Exploration Activities

Following the successfull spudding of Shabeel-1 well in January 2012, operator Horn Petroleum are drilling ahead to a total planned maximum depth of 3,800 meters.

Progress is being made on the second well with drilling operations having commenced on the Shabeel North-1 well with the setting of the 30 inch surface casing and the drilling of a 50 meter pilot hole.

The Sakson 501 rig will be used to drill both wells which are expected to take approximately 90 days each for drilling and evaluation. These two wells satisfy the first exploration period minimum work obligations of the Production Sharing Contracts for both the Dharoor and Nugaal Blocks.
Onshore Exploration and Development

Range’s clearly defined goal has been to facilitate the exploration and commercial development of the State’s natural resources to bring the commensurate benefits to the people of Puntland and shareholders of the Company.  It has always been the view of the Company to facilitate the use of third party farm ins and joint ventures to assist in funding its on going obligations under the Heads of Agreement.

Key terms of the MOU with Africa Oil are as follows:

   Africa Oil will be the Operator of the on shore oil and gas exploration effort with an obligation to spend US$50m to earn an 80% interest in the two main basin areas in Puntland (the Nogal and Darin Basins). The US$50m includes a minimum of four exploration wells to be completed (two in each basin), a sign on bonus to be confirmed upon finalization.  There is a further US$3.5m payment upon commercial production.  Range free carried until exploration moneys spent;
   Of the Africa Oil 80% farm in right, 20% (in one or both basins) is available to farm out to third parties on terms to be agreed between Range and Africa Oil
   In mid 2012 ASX/AIM listed company, Red Emperor Resources farmed into a 20% share of Africa Oil's 80%. Subsequently Africa Oil spun out its interests in Puntland into TSX listed Horn Petroleum as a fully focused Puntland vehicle

Africa Oil successfully completed a 775km 2D seismic program in the Dharoor Valley. Subsequently the PSA's were ratified by the Puntland Government in December 2009 and extended until January 2012, paving the way for operations to commence and drilling of the first exploration well in Puntland in over 18 years.

Background information on Puntland

Somalia is situated in the most northeastern part of Africa; know as ‘the Horn of Africa’. The Democratic State of Puntland is located in the northeastern sector of Somalia and covers approximately 212,000km2. The area is believed to have all the pre-requisites to become a major oil producing province whilst its other mineral potential is largely unexplored.

Somalia, and in particular Puntland, remain one of the last under-explored countries that have high potential for vast reserves of hydrocarbons. During the late 1980’s the State was divided into a number of concessions for oil exploration. Significant exploration was undertaken but this effectively ceased due to political instability that arose in 1991. The mineral potential has been investigated during the 2006 by Range’s team of geologists based in Bosasso on the northern coast .The geological work has identified the potential of large silver rich lead zinc deposits analgous to the Jabali deposit in southern Yemen.

Puntland is believed to have all the geological requirements to become a commercial oil-producing region. Somalia, and in particular Puntland, remains one of the last under-explored countries that has a high potential for considerable reserves of hydrocarbons which can be subsequently developed for the benefit of both the people of Puntland and Range Shareholders. The Company believes that through the generation of work and government royalties from hydrocarbon exploration and development numerous social and economic benefits will result.

In Puntland und Umgebung werden Erdölvorkommen vermutet. Die Regionalregierung hat ohne Zustimmung der somalischen Übergangsregierung Lizenzen zur Erdölexploration an die Unternehmen Range Resources aus Australien und African Oil Corp. aus Kanada vergeben. Africa Oil begann Ende Mai 2008 die Exploration in Puntland.

Innerhalb von 30 Tagen ist der Kurs von 3,87 auf 6,34 gestiegen. Ein Anstieg von über 60%. Bis heute war ich der Meinung, dass das alleine Spekulanten geschuldet war, die darauf setzen, dass bei der Bohrung in Kenia neben den 20 m öltragenden Schichten noch weitere Vorkommen vorhanden sein KÖNNTEN. Denn als die Meldung über den Fund kam, war man noch lange nicht bei der geplanten Tiefe angelangt.  Dies müsste inzwischen aber der Fall sein.
Auch in Puntland könnte man inzwischen positive Ergebnisse erzielt haben. Was also hat den Kursanstieg verursacht? +13% ohne realen Hintergrund (auch wenn er noch nicht veröffentlicht ist), kann ich mir kaum vorstellen. Also: Irgendjemand weiss etwas. Und wenn das publik wird, dann steigt der Kurs weiter. Vielleicht kommt dann kurze Zeit später eine zweite gute Nachricht und schon nähern wir uns einem zweistelligen Aktienkurs (Mann, ist träumen schon).

STOCKHOLM (Direkt) Morgan Stanley tror med en sannolikhet på 70-80 procent att operatören Tullow Oil och hälftenägaren Africa Oil inom närtid kommer att redovisa positiva borrningsbesked kring den kenyanska fyndigheten Ngamia-1.
Det framgår av en dagsfärsk kommentar från Morgan Stanley.
Vid 17.15-tiden handlades Africa Oil-aktien till 40 kronor, en uppgång med nästan 5 procent under onsdagen.

Denn Morgan Stanley hat auch keine Infos sondern spekuliert. Für einen Erfolg in Puntland spricht nämlich, dass gestern auch der Kurs von Horn Resources auch in die Höhe geschossen ist. Zur Info: Horn Resources ist Operator in Puntland und Africa Oil ist daran zu 50% beteiligt.
Die Frage Kenia und/oder Puntland bleibt also weiterhin offen.

Ich versuche schon seit langen ein günstigen Einstiegskurs zu bekommen, aber hier hat man kaum eine Chance. Da nur kurze Korrektuen und dann ein schleller Anstieg folgt.
Bin jetzt  doch aufgesprungen, eigentlich gegen meiner Überzeugung, da sie schon sehr gut gelaufen ist. Habe jedoch von verschiedenen Seiten gehört das dies nicht alles ist, wenn die Bohrergebnisse gut sind.
Ich wünsche jeden investierten viel Erfolg.  

ich hatte den Tip mit Africa Oil am 30.März kurs bei 3,00€ bekommen und noch gedacht shit ein Monat früher zu 1,50€ wäre besser gewesen jetzt sind die so gestiegen da kannste jetzt auch nicht mehr einsteigen und bin nicht eingestiegen bei 3,00€
Das war auch wieder voll daneben ich dachte die fallen ja vielleicht nochmal, nix da.
Dann bin ich letzten Freitag bei 3,903€ eingestiegen, man trift nie den richtigen Zeitpunkt Perf. seit Threadbeginn:   +201,20% am 23.02.12
Die seit Feb. dabei sind haben den Erfolg schon ;))

Bei tradegate schon über 50% plus heute ;-)  

Eigentlich müsste jetzt so langsam die geplantge Bohrtiefe ereicht sein. Egal wie es aussieht: Nach den Zwischenberichten können wir schon mehr als zufrieden sein. Sollten jetzt noch weitere ölführende Schichten gefunden worden sein, dann wäre das phantastisch. Sollte eine "Leermeldung" kommen, ergeben sich vielleicht noch einmal Kurse unter $8 und ich würde aufstocken.

Früher als erwartet hat AOI (Africa Oil) die Ngamia-1 Bohrung abgeschlossen. Die geplante Tiefe wurde nicht erreicht, weil man auf hartes Gestein traf, das erst einige 100m tiefer erwartet worden war. Grund sich zu grämen? Nein! Denn als Abschiedsgeschenk wurden noch einmal 43 m ölführende Schicht gemessen. Noch ist es zu früh, den Champagner zu öffnen. Es gibt noch keine Flow-Tests. Erst wenn diese durchgeführt worden sind, wird man wissen, ob die Entdeckung wirtschaftlich sinnvoll ausgebeutet werden kann. Der Wermutstropfen ist, dass es noch einige ZEit dauern wird, bis die Flow-Tests durch geführt werden. Derweil werden AOI und Tullow das Bohr Equipment 30 km nordwestlich bewegen, wo die Twiga-1 Bohrung geplant ist.
Danach geht es zurück zu Ngamia.
Als Dessert hat die heutige Pressemitteilung noch etwas anderes beschert: Die Ngamia-1 Bohrung ist auf eine Verwerfung gestoßen (das ist der Grund für das vorzeitige Ende). Man beabsichtigt aber demnächst ein Stück weiter weg zu bohren, wo man - ohne auf die Verwerfung zu treffen - das wahre Potenzial erkunden könne. Oh Mann!!! Als Sahnehäubchen: Es kommen noch zwei Bohrausrüstungen. Im dritten und vierten Quartal hat man dann eine größere Bohrkapazität.
Ich hatte gehofft, dass mich Tag Oil zum Millionär macht (hoofe ich noch immer). Aber wenn das nicht klappt; dann gibt es ja noch AOI!!!  

hat es seit dem letzten Beitrag gegeben. Neuigkeiten, die dazu geführt haben, dass der Kurs sich in zwei Jahren verzehnfacht hat. Grund dafür ist die 100% ige Erfolgsserie bei der Durchführung von Explorationsbohrungen

Tullow und Africa Oil sind auf einem erfolgreichen Pfad und haben die nachgewiesenen und vermuteten Reserven stark erhöht. Ich kenne kein anderes UNternehmen neben Africa Oil, das eine so hohe Marktkapitalisierung hat, ohne auch nur einen Tropfen Öl zu fördern.

Africa Oil hat Lizenzen für mehrere Blocks und noch nicht einmal jeden Block angebohrt.

sich Africa Oil mal wieder anzusehen. Das ostafrikanische Abenteuer war zwar erfolgreich, soweit es die Bohrergebnisse anbelangt, aber ohne Infrastruktur kann man Öl nicht vermarkten.
Mit seiner Beteiligung an einem produzierenden Offshore Vorkommen in Nigeria gibt es einen kontinuierlichen cash-flow.
Vor 6 Wochen wurde eine offshore-Bohrung (Venus-1) in Namibia gestartet. Ist diese erfolgreich, dann könnte das den Kurs erheblich beeinflussen.  

Shell hat in der Nachbarschaft Öl und Gas gefunden. Ich vermute, dass Marktteilnehmer darauf spekulieren, dass Africa Oil mit seinem Partner Total in Kürze auch Erfolgsnachrichten zu der Venus Bohrung veröffentlichen werden.

Africa Oil steigt am Dienstag gegen Mittag um über 27 Prozent, nachdem  "Upstream" unter Berufung auf Quellen berichtete, dass die Kohlenwasserstoffentdeckung in Block 2913B im Orangenbecken außerhalb des südlichen Namibia die größte Tiefseeentdeckung der Welt mit förderbaren Reserven sein könnte von über 13 Milliarden Barrel Öläquivalent.

Das Beratungsunternehmen Wood Mackenzie hat zuvor geschätzt, dass sich die förderbaren Ölreserven in der Lagerstätte auf mindestens 3 Milliarden Barrel Öl belaufen, wobei die Gasmengen jedoch unbekannt waren, schreibt Upstream.

Die Berechnungen des Beratungsunternehmens wurden kurz nach der Entdeckung der Lagerstätte Anfang dieses Jahres durchgeführt.

Soweit die Lagerstätte tatsächlich mehr als 13 Milliarden Barrel Öläquivalent enthält, würde sie laut Upstream die derzeit rekordhohen 11,3 Milliarden förderbaren Reserven, die bei der Tiefseeentdeckung Buzios im Meer vor Brasilien angetroffen wurden, bei weitem übertreffen.

Hintergrund ist, dass Totalenergies Anfang Februar dieses Jahres im Venus-Prospekt auf eine „große“ Entdeckung von Leichtöl mit Begleitgas gestoßen ist, wonach festgestellt wurde, dass die Venus-1-X-Bohrung auf etwa 84 Meter „Nettoöl“-Förderung stieß „von guter Qualität, wie Nyhetsbyrån Direkt zuvor berichtete.

Der Venus-Brunnen befindet sich in Block 2913B.

Africa Oil ist indirekt Miteigentümer des aktuellen Blocks durch seine Beteiligung von 30,9 Prozent an Impact Oil & Gas, die wiederum eine 20-prozentige Beteiligung an Block 2913B hält.
