Aminex (AEX, 14.75p, £60.1m) announced a positive results form its well at the Shoats Creek property, Louisiana. The OM-1 reached total depth of 9.5k feet and wireline logs identified several potential oil and gas bearing intervals in Cockfield sands (between 8.2k and 9.3k feet) closely mirroring the expectations derived from 3D seismic interoperation. Testing will commence shortly following which it is anticipated that the well will be placed on commercial production from one or more zones. This is good news which potentially adds a useful revenue stream (too early to predict how much) or farm out possibility. We maintain our HOLD in light of impending results from Likonde-1, Tanzania.

Aminex is a London Full List oil and gas exploration, development and production company with oil and gas production in two US states, a 40 million cubic feet/day gas discovery in Tanzania currently being appraised and three exploration licences in Tanzania.

In the relatively unexplored Tanzanian Ruvuma Basin Aminex is in an active drilling joint venture with Tullow Oil where the first exploration well was spudded on 9 January 2010.

Aminex also participates in an active drilling programme onshore Gulf of Suez, Egypt and has a long-standing exploration relationship with the government of North Korea which is likely to become active when regional politics permit.

AEX have certainly got good coverage recently:

- on 12th October Ambrian initiated coverage of AEX with a Buy rating and a 19p per share valuation
- on 8th November Goldman Sachs initiated coverage of AEX with a buy rating and a 16p valuation
- on 15th November Shore Capital initiated coverage of AEX with a 26p per share total NAV

And then there's Omni, who earlier in the year valued AEX at 17p per share with further upside of 21p per share.
