"StarCite is shooting for the moon. About $2 billion of the more than $100 billion spent annually on business meetings is processed through the Philadelphia company's Web site. That leaves StarCite 98 percent of the market to capture, and it's going after it aggressively."

- Philadelphia Business Journal

http://smartfairs.de/download/dn.php/...2005-PressreleaseStarCite.pdf

in Kürze Informationen erhalten. Da müssten wir darauf achten, wie sich die nachstehende Passage aus dem letzten Quartalsbericht ".. that the firm has provided hotels with nearly $493 million in meeting RFP opportunities in the third quarter of 2005. Commerce flowing through its Online Marketplace rose 50 percent compared to the same period in 2004."

StarCite Reports Results For Q3 2005
11/7/2005

PHILADELPHIA –For the first time, StarCite delivered more than 100,000 gross Requests for Proposals to hotels in its database during the quarter. At the current pace, the company expects its growing user base to deliver nearly $2 billion in revenue opportunities to hotels by year-end.

“The growing value of the StarCite Marketplace is evident with record-setting numbers of meeting leads and revenue opportunities delivered to suppliers this quarter,” said Mike Boult, President and CEO of StarCite, Inc., Philadelphia. “In the first nine months of 2005, StarCite has delivered more than $1.4 billion in revenue opportunities to suppliers in our database.”

“During this time, StarCite has helped global corporations save millions of dollars by gaining the visibility and control of meetings necessary to most strategically manage this spend category,” Boult added.

The world’s largest online marketplace for meetings and events, the StarCite Marketplace delivered 11,366 unique RFPs in the third quarter, 48 percent more than the same quarter last year and 16 percent more than the prior quarter. Through the first nine months of 2005, StarCite delivered 31,276 unique RFPs worth $1.4 billion in revenue opportunities to hotels. Each RFP – defined as “unique” - is typically sent to multiple properties or chains for rate and availability, which results in a much larger gross RFP count through StarCite’s marketplace.

StarCite Marketplace RFP Growth

The number of gross RFPs sent through the StarCite Online Marketplace rose 69 percent from the third quarter 2004 to 104,387. Tight demand and higher rates, particularly after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, prompted the relocation of hundreds of meetings from the Gulf Coast. This led planners to source meetings to more hotels – to an average of 9.18 in the third quarter. These RFPs provided nearly 1.6 million room night leads to hotels, resulting in an average of 140 nights per lead.

On a daily basis, StarCite provides $7.8 million worth of lead opportunities to hotels in its database. These figures exclude private-label sites, which StarCite supplies to Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Omni Hotels, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, and a number of other suppliers.

Increased Globalization of Corporate Deployments

During the quarter, StarCite closed more than 250 contracts with new or existing clients. StarCite signed three of its most comprehensive global technology and adoption management contracts to help Cisco Systems, Motorola and a financial services firm extend strategic meetings management initiatives. It also expanded relationships with Novo Nordisk, metroConnections and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. New corporate customers include Unilever North America, CIGNA, CV Therapeutics, and a pharmaceutical firm.

On the supplier side, StarCite extended a contract to provide technology and online marketing to Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide. StarCite also sold its solutions designed for convention and visitor bureaus to the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau; LA, Inc. the Convention and Visitors Bureau; Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau; Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau; Irving Convention & Visitors Bureau; and St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches Visitor and Convention Bureau.

On the international front, StarCite officially launched new marketing consortiums in Peru and Scandinavia. In Europe, it began a series of road shows to introduce suppliers to the power and lead generation potential of the StarCite Online Marketplace.

Real-time traffic information provider may use proceeds to buy other companies, as well as stem widening losses.
January 5, 2006

Traffic.com, a real-time traffic information provider, said Thursday it plans to raise $67.8 million in an initial public offering to pay off debt, promote its brand, and possibly acquire other companies.

The company plans to offer 6.55 million shares at $10.50 to $12.50 per share, according to an amended filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Traffic.com is conducting the offering as an Open IPO through WR Hambrecht & Co. The process involves holding an auction to determine the share price and allocation of shares to buyers. The minimum size for any bid in the auction is 100 shares.

Underwriters WR Hambrecht & Co. and JMP Securities have the option to buy an additional 829,392 shares for over-allotments.

Based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Traffic.com plans to list its shares on the Nasdaq under the symbol "TRFC."

Aggressive Targeting

Despite widening losses, the company has been aggressively targeting new territory. Traffic.com reported a net loss of $34.9 million on $32.1 million in revenue for the nine months ended Sept. 30, 2005, wider than the year-earlier loss of $13.1 million.

However, the company recently won a contract with the state of Michigan to install 95 new traffic sensors in the Detroit area and to share that information with the state’s traffic agency. The company will also sell the information to media outlets like The Weather Channel, satellite radio, as well as traditional broadcast outlets.

The company has also worked to spread its brand among Internet users by allowing web site owners to post traffic information relevant to their local areas and allow users to receive traffic updates via mobile devices.

62057 Postings, 7030 Tage LibudaStarcite gigantisch gut

Corporate Meeting Suppliers Use StarCite Online Marketplace by Two to One Margin Over Alternatives

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 2006--

First-Ever Research on Electronic RFP Applications Finds That

Suppliers Use StarCite More Frequently and Express High Satisfaction

                Levels With StarCite User Experience
Hotel and convention venue decision-makers who have received StarCite RFPs overwhelmingly prefer the StarCite Marketplace to electronically access and respond to corporate meetings electronic requests-for-proposal (eRFPs) when compared to other options, according to research findings released today by the Integrated Technology Research Corporation (ITR). As the volume of eRFPs in the meetings industry rises and eRFP applications such as StarCite, OnVantage and others proliferate, ITR conducted the first study ever to help measure user experiences of StarCite Marketplace compared with various other eRFP providers.

ITR's independent research found that twice as many survey respondents said that they use StarCite Marketplace (96 percent) compared with OnVantage MarketView (48 percent) and with eRFP tools other than StarCite or OnVantage (52 percent.) They also use StarCite more frequently, with 48 percent of those who use both StarCite and OnVantage indicating that they used StarCite "more than once a week". Eighteen percent said they use OnVantage "more than once a week". Respondents also have more history with StarCite than any other eRFP provider - 73 percent said they have used it for one to more than two years. Forty-three percent have used OnVantage for one to more than two years.

"We believe that those who have received eRFPs from the StarCite MarketPlace are a powerful representation of the corporate meetings supplier community. This research shows that corporate meetings suppliers unequivocally prefer StarCite to electronically solicit, access, and win new business," said Michael Boult, president and chief executive officer of StarCite. "From identifying and responding to qualified new business leads to delivering an effective experience that facilitates usage of the tool, suppliers clearly favor StarCite, use it far more than any other option, and see it as an indispensable element of their business development strategy."

Survey respondents expressed a greater degree of satisfaction with StarCite than with any other eRFP provider. Ninety percent of hotel and convention suppliers said they were "satisfied" to "very satisfied" with their StarCite experience, compared to 76 percent for OnVantage and 80 percent for other eRFP tools. ITR also found that respondents were more pleased with the StarCite user experience than other options. For example, 71 percent were "very" or "somewhat" satisfied with the ease of login and registration when using StarCite. For OnVantage, the result was 43 percent.

"These results clearly demonstrate that the suppliers surveyed recognize that StarCite is an extremely valuable demand generation channel for corporate meetings business," said Bob Bennett, vice president, product marketing for StarCite. "They confirm that with over $2 billion in revenue opportunities and 43,000 eRFPs distributed to users in 2005, StarCite is viewed as one of the most effective electronic marketplace available. At the same time, the high levels of supplier participation on the StarCite Marketplace mean that corporate buyers can feel confident that they are accessing the deepest pool of potential options for their meetings business."

Integrated Technology Research Corporation (ITR) was commissioned by StarCite to conduct an unbiased, third party research study that would provide insights and identify trends within the growing corporate meetings eRFP industry. The survey was conducted online through ITR's survey website, itrsurveys.com, between December 5 - 11, 2005. The survey population included approximately 12,000 hotel and convention venue decision makers, of which 1,161 responded.

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2005--StarCite, Inc., the provider of On Demand Global Meeting Solutions(TM) for the $300 billion global meetings and events industry, today announced that it provided hotels with nearly $455 million in meeting RFP opportunities in the second quarter of 2005.

PHILADELPHIA – May 9 , 2005 - StarCite, Inc., the leading provider of technologies and services for the $300 billion global meetings and events industry, today announced that it provided hotels with $464 million in group meeting lead opportunities in the first quarter of 2005.

"Warren, N,J.-based Chubb Group of Insurance Companies during the past six months implemented an online, end-to-end registration, booking and fulfillment tool for corporate meetings, said the company's head of corporate travel. More than 95 percent of bookings made through the tool successfully pass through untouched, she said, without a company mandate to drive compliance. Chubb partnered with meetings technology company StarCite, Inc. of Philadelphia..."

-Business Travel News
June 6, 2005

Gesamtes Posting anzeigen...

New York - Kaufen Sie Aktien von Dark Dynamite Inc.!

Kearney empfehlen dazu u.a.:

IT and software application outsourcing services through a hybrid onshore-offshore delivery model with its primary development operations based in Shenzhen, China.Headquarters: San Francisco, CASector:Business Services9/16/05 Private

Our unmatched partner network, strategic investment leadership, industry understanding and transactional expertise combine to create the FTVentures advantage.

FTVentures invests in companies that create software or provide business services which enable financial institutions worldwide to expand and to operate more efficiently. Our goal is to build superior industry leaders in order to earn a high risk-adjusted return for our Limited Partners.FTVentures has over $600 million under management with offices in San Francisco and New York. Our Limited Partners are 38 of the largest financial institutions in the world and are leaders in the innovative deployment of technology and operational solutions. At FTVentures, we believe that financial capital is merely one of the components required to generate long-term success for our Limited Partners, our portfolio companies and our firm.

Um diesen Brocken aus dem nachstehenden Text geht es: "I think last year, there was about $12 billion that went from the US to the firms in India... Half of it was from Wall Street."

How do you make the leap to providing services for financial services firms then?
The core strategic value that we have developed is the ability to build complex software products from scratch in China for delivery to the US. That requires a huge degree of process maturity. We work differently today than we did five years ago. Five years ago in China our infrastructure wasn’t as automated as it is now. We were much more focused on heavy lifting -- everybody jump on a new project and do it to perfection. Now we’ve got serious process maturity and repeatability...

Those processes do migrate to other industries well. We’ve completed major work for financial services firms, and the key is bringing on front end talent here in the US -- but using the same processes for defining requirements, getting technical specs to China, communicating well in a formal process with the engineers in China, then delivering back and implementing in the US... It’s all around process maturity.

We’re in the final evaluation for [Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI)] level 5. We should have it in December... We’ve had our auditors living with us for two years. And the audit firm is from India because CMMI -- as a value -- was really developed and proven by the major outsourcing firms in India. We realized we didn’t want to have an auditor from China who was basically looking for us to get to Level 5 as a marketing matter.

Why are financial services so important to your company?
FTVentures [is] a special kind of firm. [Their] limited partners -- people who gave them the capital to invest -- are the 33 largest financial services firm in the world -- everybody from Citigroup to UBS to Deutsche Bank to JP Morgan. They really are a consortium of financial services firms with a mission of giving companies expansion capital to deliver services to financial services.

Delivering technologies to financial services requires the same degree of industry knowledge as delivering in retail. If you’re going to work on a supply chain in retail, you’re going to have to know how the retail supply chain really works. If you’re going to work on a core banking system, a trading system, a cash management system -- whatever in financial services -- you really need to have the industry expertise to have credibility.

We were interested in their partnership, in their ability to recruit top talent, in their track record in building outsourcing services firms. You can see on their Web site, they’ve built some successful firms in India that deliver services to Wall Street firms.

The reason [the financial services firms] invested in FTVentures was to turn around and be the client for the firms that FT [funds]. It’s a virtuous circle. It’s really the bank’s money. The banks give it to FT to decide where to place it, and then the banks become customers of the companies that FT invests in.

We’re not exclusive to financial services. But in our business, you say, “Hey, let’s not reinvent the business model. India did it.” ...The top Indian firms work in multiple verticals, not just one. Of the top five Indian firms, financial services is the largest vertical. The reason is, there’s huge profit. Financial services firms dedicate a large percent of their budgets to IT and outsourcing.

I think last year, there was about $12 billion that went from the US to the firms in India... Half of it was from Wall Street.

Most major Wall Street firms decide, we are going to outsource. Then it’s a question of, what are we outsourcing? What are we keeping in-house? How strategic do we get with our outsourcing firms? Do we throw projects over the wall? Or do we actually bring them inside our firewall? So from China, they’re inside our firewall in NY and can do large-scale maintenance and integration work. It’s really a co-sourcing or co-location model. That’s where you get groups like Infosys inside Merrill Lynch. Merrill Lynch has got 2,000 people at Infosys.

Who’s your competition?
If you go in the Internet and put in “China software outsourcing” or “China solutions outsourcing,” you’ll see a bunch of entrepreneurs from China who have no understanding of how major global companies consume services... Lots of companies that are working in the China market are not sophisticated enough in terms of their process, in terms of their English language, in terms of their business knowledge [or] knowledge of how major western clients work, to deliver to them.

[So the competition] really is the guys from India.

Now, China has an advantage over India that’s significant. We’re not saying that all the business in the world is going to move from India to China. But China is more cost effective than India, significantly. And part of that is what I call “the disease of success.” India has been so successful, it’s gone haywire. So many firms are out there now, and there’s been wage inflation. There’s been a lot of turnover at the firms. And the clients feel this. India firms are passing on price increases to clients, because their own wage bases have gone up 60% in the last 18 months.

That’s driving people to look at China for the first time.

Also, more importantly, in the financial services world, there’s the sense that major firms got overcommitted to India. Just as a matter of risk mitigation and diversification -- they are bankers after all -- they need to send 5%, 15%, half of it, whatever the number, to China. They have to diversify away from India a bit.

The only place where you can get the kind of scale that you can get in India is China.

Aggregate pro forma revenue of ICG’s eight Core companies grew 19% year over year, to $59.2 million, in the third quarter of 2005 from $49.8 million in the third quarter of 2004. Aggregate pro forma revenue of ICG’s eight Core companies grew 20% year over year, to $174.8 million, year-to-date 2005 from $146.2 million year-to-date 2004.

In 2005 GoIndustry arranged more than 600 on-site and online auctions generating net revenues of more than €30m."

Oben heißt es mit GoIndustry:  "Core companies grew 20% year over year, to $174.8 million, year-to-date 2005 from $146.2 million year-to-date 2004."

Ohne GoIndustry hätte es gelautet:"Core companies grew 33% year over year, to $138.8 million, year-to-date 2005 from $104.2 million year-to-date 2004."

We all heard the tales of lavish parties and corporate "meetings" in exotic locales in the wake of the corporate accounting scandals. As a result, more best practice companies are striving to gain visibility into the meetings spend, and creating controls through online meeting tools. Meeting planning departments are centralizing meeting spend and leveraging preferred suppliers. Thinking more strategically about how your company manages meetings spend can provide some often overlooked savings.

One of the best examples is Cisco Systems, which uses the StarCite online tool to plan its meeting and has already realized 16% savings on its meetings spend by using the StarCite centralized sourcing tool and database. Here are some of the tricks and tips from Michelle Snock, manager of global meeting services for Cisco Systems.

Trick 1: Anyone can buy for meetings
Many meetings are organized by administration employees who don’t necessarily know what to ask for. Snock explains that often when a contract arrives, administration doesn’t know what to look at. "They shouldn’t be signing it." Anyone can pick up the phone, plan a meeting and sign a contract, she says, "That’s 38,000 people in our company who can be a meeting planner" Which makes it extremely difficult to get data because it was stuck in different people’s budgets.

Tip 1: Create one channel
Have one centralized meeting group that works hand-in-hand with procurement. Procurement doesn’t want to look at 200,000 meeting contracts, nor do they have the time. A meetings organization can obtain easily accessible advice on legal terminology and contracts. Procurement can look at the bigger picture.

Trick 2: Picking up the phone
If someone wanted to have a meeting in a specific city, Snock would have to call the national sales managers for the various chains in that specific city. “I would get the rates and availability and spend several hours to get results for three hotels.”

Tip 2: Use online technology
Online tools typically offer more options. It may be difficult to pick a hotel vendor in an area that is unfamiliar to the buyer, but online databases like StarCite provides information on each hotel in a desired area. With the tool, the user can pull a specialized list of hotels that meet the requirements. Users can even source suppliers for food and beverage, restaurant providers, airlines and cruise ships through the technology. It consolidates data and has an RFP process within it, which allows the team to electronically request availability. The team sends the RFP electronically and each hotel has 48 hours to respond.

Trick 3: Buying all the works
There was a time when Cisco had no clue what it was spending on meetings. Everyone’s administrative assistant was picking up the phone to buy what was needed. They were paying for it all different ways: credit cards, purchase orders and invoices so there was no way even for a finance division to pull that data together. The bill would be submitted and the company was stuck paying for it.

Tip 3: Create line budget items
"With our process, when someone requests a meeting, we ask them how much they think their budget should be," says Snock. "Nine out of 10 times they have no clue what a meeting costs." By using an online tool, the meeting group can tell its vendors how much it is spending with them. The group prints out a line budget item from the StarCite tool to get approved by the financial analyst and budget owner. This determines if a meeting can’t happen at all, or has to happen locally. It gives the company control by getting visibility up front. "It’s how our purchasing department says, 'That's great. You’re getting approvals up front, so your controls are in place. You’re tracking spend and leveraging suppliers,'" says Snock.

62057 Postings, 7030 Tage LibudaNoch einmal Starcite,

http://www.purchasing.com/article/CA6299295.html?text=starcite

62057 Postings, 7030 Tage LibudaEine Leiche zuckt

"Welcome to Foodlink Online, the leading, customizable solution for connecting buyers and sellers of fresh food and floral products. FoodLink Online provides trading partners the tools they need to transact completely online, eliminating many of the frustrating issues created by the lack of timely information and changes to orders for meat, fish, produce, floral, deli, bakery and natural products. Using web based software, FoodLink Online allows retailers to post their desired order quantities, collect bids from a huge supply base, negotiate terms, and finalize orders. Changes to orders by either buyer or seller are immediately available to both partners for further immediate negotiation. No more phone tag, blurry faxes, or untimely emails. Once the product is formally received, the transaction can be settled online. All the transaction history is available for the next year. Any data from the platform can be transmitted in many forms to both parties, eliminating costly, error prone keying processes."
